How quickly can I return to sport after breast surgery? I’m just waiting for histology results, but they did’t seem very hopeful, so am gearing myself for surgery, however have skiing holiday booked in january, what is the chance of going on that if I have surgery in next few weeks. I’m 40 years old, fit and work as a physio.
Hi Sce11
Welcome to the Breast Cancer Care discussion forums where I am sure you will get lots of good, honest support from the many informed users of this site. You might like to post again in the ‘Living with Breast Cancer’ forum where you might get more replies from people who have already undergone surgery and have started up sports again, as where you have posted - New members- tends to be users who are, like you, quite new to the forums. To help you along I have put for you below the link to one of BCC’s publications which I hope you find helpful. Also our helpline team are just a free phone call away if you would like to talk to someone in person, 0808 800 6000

Hi. I was back horse riding 7 weeks after surgery. Im 42. . I had mastectomy and ANC. I compete at affiliated dressage so its not just blobbing about in the saddle :). I also joined the gym doing zumba, pilates and LBT as well as swimming and started that 7 weeks post surgery. As you are a physio you probably understand the mechanics better than the rest of us. Your surgeon will be able to advise you when/if you need surgery. Good luck and take care.
