Dear All,
I am looking for some hope? My Mom dx with bc in Feb 07 plus secondaries to bones and very tiny to liver. Had the ususal radio, chemo removal and then on Xeloda. In May onc took her off Xeloda as markers showed stability. Her and Dad went to France two weeks ago she ended up in a French Hospital in a come. We got her home and into hospital and MRI showed it has travelled to her Brain. The presuure had inflamed her Brain and that had forced her into a coma. Doctors are saying 6 months if they can’t treat her and a little longer if they can.
She is lucid now but having trouble with vision due to where the pressure is in her brain.
Can anyone share any hope with me as I feel completely useless and unable to inspire my lovely Mom which I know I really need to do?
Thanks.
How scary for everyone, for that to happen when your mum was on holiday.
I have liver mets but not brain mets, so can’t help in with that I’m afraid. Do you know yet what treatment they are proposing? Hopefully someone who has had treatment for brain mets will come and post soon.
AM thinking of you all though.

Dear Lisa,
I was very sad to read of your Mum.
How is she doing now?
There are treatments and I am sure by now you will have a bit more information.
I have just had ‘Gamma Knife treatment’ although my situation there was very little imflamation.
This is available on the NHS most PCT can find the funding.
It might be worth having a look.
See my post about the ‘Gamma Knife’.
Apart from that I don’t think I have anymore useful imformation.
Sending you all my best wishes
Tess
Dear All,
Thank you for your kind words. My Mom is feeling much better today but worried of course wondering if there is any treatment she will be up to having. She is also worried about leaving my Dad on his own. She always worries about others first!
Thank you Tess for the direction to the ‘Gamma Knife’ post.
