hi lili, mungos mum & JLR (are you sure you’re not JLS?
FECx1 -1
thanks everyone for your good wishes for tomorrow. To be honesat I’ve been preoccupied sorting out dentist. Finally struck on the idea to get him and my onco talking. The outcome is that chemo can go ahead and dental work completed on 25th day before FECx2.
Lili, i was offered CC, but decided that for me it would be more distressing to go thin than lose it all (i hope i’m right!). so i have sorted all appointments for wig fitting, hair cutting (wednesday), “look good feel better” and “Headstrong”. Today i bought a beanie just in case… but i’d like to get some nicer headwear. problem is where, i was overwhelmed with choices to make (not good at decisions when too much choice!)
i wasn’t offered any jabs, but i did have flu & pneumonia jabs last november (before i knew i had BC), so that’s ok. no other jabs have been mentioned.
i’ll check in with you all tomorrow. I’m still thinking of you as your big day approaches too.
i’m sure that once the first one is over, apart from all the possible SE’s, it will be less scary. hope so anyway. let’s hope that for us there will be not too many problems along the way
take care. chat tomorrow x
oh hello Lola thank you, and MrsB glad you’re joinin.g us. I meant to say it’s well worth being assertive with getting what you feel you need. it certainly paid off with the teeth/BC debacle, the dentist just didn’t get it that it can be risky to continue regardless. so i let them sort it out. i am more peaceful now that it is sorted. it paid off for you too MM, so well done to you too.
lola, hope your app tomorrow goes as you hope
PS did you realise that FEC in eire is a swear word!!! how appropriate

Yes, Angela!!! Mrs. Brown’s Boys is my favourite TV show!!!
All the best for tomorrow Angela, am sure you will be telling us that it was not as bad as we’ve all been wondering.
just off now to station. here we go here we go here we go!!!
Thanks Mrs B & Lola, have a great day. A
Hi all
Angela, hope your first experience of chemo was tolerable and your feeling ok.
Looks like its kicking off for all of us soon. I see my onco here in France on Moday although I’m still waiting to hear from my PCT re funding. I’m sure we’ve all had our difficulties with the ‘non’ medical side of our cancer treatment - the waiting for results and appointments etc, the bureaucracy is blindingly stressful. I may yet resort to Mungos_mum’s toy hurling tactics if I get no answers by Friday.
Stay mellow March Mallows xx
Suzy
hi Angela am glad it wasn’t too bad or you it sounds as though you coped ok! I have my first Fec on Friday am a little apprehensive but guess I will just have to get on with it! Janey x
FEC x1 done… not too bad going through it, but felt soooo tired after, slight headache. In bed had unpleasant reflux and at 04.30 “got rid of it” in the bathroom. Then i slept well. This morning everthing tastes different, ate, but didn’t feel like it. I’m feeling a bit delicate today. I tried updating last night, but it dissappeared and i didn’t have the energy to re-do it. I did remember to hydrate well before treatment so there was no problem finding a vein. However, whether it was the long sit or what, i retained most of the water(3litres!) and my legs were heavy and swolen. after the sleep though they are back to normal.
That’s the SE’s for me so far.
We’ll be thinking of you Caroline tomorrow, and cheering you on.
Suzy, hope Friday will see you progressing. And JLR that your 1st session goes well for you.
take care everyone I wish you all all the best for the days ahead
Angela
Well done AngelaG thats 1 you can cross off now, hope your SE’s are tiny ones , xx
Angela,
well done. I’m glad your first night hasn’t been too unpleasant. I hope the SE’s stay at a similar level.
Best wishes,
MM
Well done Angela!! I was so nervous for you!! Glad all went well and lets hope stays this way!! Good Luck to everyone this week!! I am feeling so poorly full of cold hope this gets better soon so don´t delays treatment!! Take Care everyone!! x
P.S have you had a PICC LINE?
Well done Angela. A march pioneer. Today I have been shopping all to get chemo ready. My list keeps getting longer and longer. I found the tips post on the forum useful to give me some ideas. Hope you breeze through your first cycle Angela.
JLR - hope all goes well for you on friday. I see my onc on friday to confirm my treatment and start date.
Angela, well done. Don’t forget to take anti sickness tablets even if you don’t feel sick. Better to be safe than sorry. One to tick off your list. Great big hugs, and get plenty of sleep.
Love Kath xxx
Well done Angela!
Don’t suffer with the reflux - ring your nurse and ask for advice. They may prescribe Omeprazole if it is causing you heartburn or tummy burning. Never suffer - always ring up and ask!

Hi everyone
Lili, PICC line will be in place next time i think as the first course they try to use canula if veins are good, but after that i think the veins shrink or something making PICC more necessary. it also saves time and makes it easier to take blood and give us the poison!
Jude and Caroline hope your not feeling too nervous about tomorrow. i’m sure you’ll cope. we never know how well we are going to cope until we are tested, and i think it’s not as bad as we imagine, so deep breath, drink lots and sleep well,
thinking of you

EDIT did’t see JLR, Poemsgalore MrsB and Lola’s comments till just now. I hate taking so many pills, it just makes you realise your needing them, if you understand me. However, yes i will keep taking them, hate being sick more! Thank you Lola i will do that in the morning. Mrs B I spent a LOT of money in prep for this season. i also went to get my hair cut by a Trevor Sorbie trained hardresser. She told me to come back when hair started to leave me, and then she advised to have it all off. She also showed me some wigs to try, and advised me on hair care before it goes and during and after. she didnt cut my hair after all as it’s medium length and not necessary. No charge for an hour session. lovely sensitive lady
mumgos mum feeling happier? thinking of you too
HUgs accepted from and given to you all
Angela,
thanks for the reassurance as the trailblazer for this motley crew. I am confirmed for tomorrow morning. Really feeling
apprehensive now, but needs must. Just need to take them one at a time and cross them off as we go along. It is the uncertainty which surrounds everything that gets me, if the nurse could confidently predict what SEs would effect which patients, it would be easier.
Caroline - fingers crossed for you too.
thanks. Jude
Hi all ive also been following the Valentines group,Birthday valentines day met chemo doc valentines day and had my 1st Chemo on the 28th,the information and tips of those ladies was brilliant but must say ive gone off the taste of most of the nice foods i bought, i worked myself into a right state all for nothing,Dads coming with me for the first 3 sessions at our local hospital and im having my other 3 at Christies Manchester so OH doing those with them being a longer day, feel like ive been floating around for the last 6 days itchy head and no sleep but all managable,
As the song goes “hey Jude, don’t be afraid” and it’s true, it does usmore harm than good, but I know only too well that it’s easier said than done. It’s really not as bad as you imagine. Not pleasant tho’
It seems that Nausea and constipation and taste changes (as granny p says) are the main SE’s. From my perspective, I would have taken sennacot the night before chemo as i was affected in that way. All better now! However another side effect could be the opposite (can’t spell the word) so…
My OH cooked me a lovely meal last night “Tuscsan sausages” and added a little chilli flakes. it tasted really good. he actually followed a recipe. there’s a first for everything. He was so keen to do something to help me feel better, and he’s doing a good job of it too.
Jude hope your SE’s are not too bad.
granny p, welcome to the group
love Angela xoxo
Hello ladies. Am off the see my onc team today and get confirmation of start dates etc.
I am going to ask for a written copy of my pathology notes. Has anyone else asked for these? What was the reaction of the medical professionals? I want to be as informed as possible. Knowledge is power and the more I know th more in control I feel. Any thoughts…
Hi Mrs B
I asked for a copy of my report from the surgical team over a week ago, it still hasn’t arrived! But I was told that it was a standard request and there shouldn;t be a problem.
Jlr - I will be thinking of you today, hope it all goes smoothly and may all your SEs be small!
I have my first visit to the onc today, so will find out once and for all what therapy I will be on. at the very least it will be Tamoxifen by the weekend.
Best wishes to everyone,
MM xx
