Stage2 ductal ER+ PR- HER+

Hi

Well it’s now nearly 7 weeks since my lumpectomy and sentinel biopsies. Still tender in both breasts and had small infection in one wound. Seen oncologist who has set me up for Dexa scan, heart scan and PICC line in next few weeks to start my treatment week 15 September.
Paclitaxol for 12 weeks alongside 3 weekly Herceptin, radiotherapy after chemotherapy with aromatase inhibitors. It will be nice to have a few ‘normal’ weeks and hopefully a couple of nights away before treatment.
12 weeks it quite intense as the cancer centre is a 70 mile round trip, with weekly blood tests, hopefully done by local GP or district nurse and every 3 weeks to see consultant. I think the travelling is going to take a lot out of me, on a good day it can be done in 35 minutes but with traffic the longest has been 1 1/4 hours.

Well I’ve got a date to start chemotherapy and Herceptin…14 September.

I’ve had a MUGA heart scan, wig fitting today, PICCLine on Wednesday, then bloods and clinic next Tuesday.

I just want to get started. I’m so tired all the time. The hot flushes at night are exhausting from stopping HRT and I haven’t even started my treatment.

Had a fall in the garden last Wednesday, slipped on a wet rock and have an almighty bruise. Been resting, icing and rubbing in arnica. Hoping it will heal before treatment as bruises are worse during chemotherapy and I bruise easily already (no medical reason why). I feel I may have to limit things I do so I don’t get myself in a situation where I may fall.

How is everyone else?

You’re getting there @naughty_boob, slowly but you’re getting there. There’s a lot going on which takes a lot of processing but each step takes you closer to the start of treatment. How are you doing with all of the travelling?

I had a massive fall in April, didn’t slip, didn’t trip, have no idea what happened. Had bruises the shape of the things I landed on and then rolled into. I was in the stand at a rugby match at the time - the shame! These days I’m super cautious and hand rails are my friend.

I can completely empathise with the tiredness. Fatigue has been my constant companion for almost a year now (13/09 is first anniversary of surgery). Alas I am being investigated for secondaries in the stomach. To be honest, I don’t think that’s what it is but have to go through the process and realise that that’s life now every time something seems not quite right. As I’m coming up to 68, that’s going to become more frequent I guess. Just the small likelihood that this digestive issue IS secondaries, knocks the old confidence.

So pleased that you continue to update us. Will be thinking of you on the 14th.

Hi @Tigress
So nice to hear from you. Funny you saying about your fall, I did slip but it was a bit of an out of body experience. I felt myself slip then the next thing I knew I was on the floor I didn’t even put my hands out to stop myself.

I’m so sorry to hear you are having investigations for secondaries, keeping my fingers crossed for you.
