For me it was a bit of an anti-climax, as because of the echo result dropping not being able to have the Herceptin I was only in the day unit about 10 mins whilst they took blood.
Another one down so 3 to go and yes getting pretty tired now ! I was out of it for yesterday and seem to be a bit better today, they did use inside wrist and nurse thinks it will last for the final ones so fingers crossed! I had a brilliant nurse today just felt a little pinch and it was done I was really pleased as I do hate the b----y needles! Think I will be having an early one soo tired! take care and tissues at the ready! Em x
Glad youve got another one under your belt em and they git your vein first time.
Nearly done now :0)
Take care and rest up with tissues at your side ;0)
xx
Went out again without a tissue…doh!! X
Oh Kimmie tissues are a definite must! I now keep them in the car, in the house in lounge, kitchen, well kitchen roll and by front door on side so I can grab some in passing! Mind you also in both coat pockets and every cardigan I have!!! they have pockets too! so yes getting a bit paranoid methinks! :)))) Em xxx sat here realised also got a pack in my DG! so well prepared!
Ha ha Em. There in my coat pockets normally but I had to have a clear out, could hardly get my hands in my pockets for loo and kitchen roll ha ha
Ive just put a tissue back in while my chemo brain allows me to remember.
My friend even bought me some packs with lipsticks on yesterday, comes to things when your friends buy you tissues ha ha x
Well, what an amazing day. I woke up with energy, and I have proceeded to reduce the Steptoe & Son appearance of my patio, and took a car load to the tip. I’m sure it’s the sunshine giving me a boost!
I then washed my car (This is so rarely done)
I then pruned down the larger branches of a small tree we have, ;I’d aleady pruned many smaller branches a few weeks ago and what were left were the big meaty ones which needed sawing.
Well, I ache a bit now, and have 3 teeth marks from the saw in my middle finger which I have thoroughly washed out and hope they dont fester!
I think I’ll pay for this tomorrow, but on the rare days like this, I use them and I feel satisfied with myself.
So, sometimes, there is a glimpse of stamina after herceptin—last one on 29th feb!!!
Wow check you out truddles. I get days like that its brilliant when you feel like you can do actually something. The sunshine always helps me, even to wash my windows!!!
I went for a walk today only half an hr and felt really shaky when i came back, not sure why. My last one was feb 10th?!
Hope your not to achy tomorrow :0)
x
Oh my hips ache a bit but not too bad so far.
Kimmie, only 3 days ago I woke up and knew instantly it was a no-energy day, my legs were wobbly just walking down the stairs (No alcohol to blame, unfortunately!)
And regarding the nose, yesterday hubby asked if I had a cold! I had to tell him AGAIN that it’s a SE of herceptin, and then he said, oh yes, you only had treatment the other day. ( yes that was nearly 3 weeks ago, lol) They dont understand do they, these men.
8-))))
Thats good news :0)
Well so far I feel ok today, I get paranoid thinking all sorts.
No they dont do they :0)
Hi girls
Just to let you know I saw a friend yesterday at my other friends celebration and we were discussing herceptin and the runny nose etc, one girl who finished treatment in december doesnt have a runny nose now :0) however, another friend who her oncologist said it takes up to 8 months for herceptin to get out of your system :0( but I suppose if the runny nose subsides at least thats something
Hope your all well
x
That’s good news about the nose, as i’ve agreed with my boss to come off the phased return that i’ve been desperately clinging to ( wish I could do shorter hours long term)
My FINAL JUICING is in 2.5 hours time, and I’ve packed a bag of goodies, and a friend is coming with me too, yeah.
See you later, xxx
Another snotty nosed herceptin person here. Wouldn’t our lives be easier if our noses were up the other way on our faces? At least we wouldn’t be caught out when your nose suddenly drips!!!
Well done to all of you who have had or about to have your last herceptin. I had number 7 on January 10th, but then had an op on January 30th so have now missed the next 2. I am due to restart with number 8 in a couple of weeks time but a loaded dose for me so 6 hours in the unit once more
So far all my muga readings have been in the 80’s with me starting from the 1st one at 87 so hoping that they all stay that way!
Truddles-Hope your last treatment went well :0)
Mazzalou-hi snotty nose ;0) yes it would be fabulous ha ha. Oh not the 6 hour visit, hope it flies by for you.
Glad your mugga scans are ok. Mine were too but didnt get to find out what the figures were.
Went for a short walk today, managed to remember the tissues today though woo hoo
X
Glad you remembered the tissues! It has become a sort of in joke at work as I have them in the drawers and also on top of my desk! Good job they can’t see inside my car or my pockets! It has been a lovely day today here I even took off my coat! I am so looking forward to finishing my treatment and hoping the runny nose will be a thing of the past? Then again I think the tissue thing has become like a security blanket so it will take some time to wean myself off them ;0
Just in time for the …HAY FEVER season ughhhhh!!!
I hope you are all well Em xxx
Hi Em
Glad your ok. Yes I remembered this time. It was quite nice here to so had a little stroll trying to build up my stamina again.
Well like I said a friend of mine says hers has stopped after a couple of months so theres hope for us yet. However, yep hay fever gets me too and my eyes oh the joys!!!
Take Care xxx
Double-clicked
Mazzalou, all the best to restarting your herceptin shortly, even tho the hours are sometimes long on the chemo unit, I always found it goes by quickly, what with reading my book/ listening to music, sleeping, and of course eating !!!
Well that’s it, mine’s all done. I had to wait an hour and half before I was called through, so I was 5 hours in total. My friend stayed for about an hour and then I slept for the final hour, that piriton always makes me sleepy.
The nurse actually gave me some words of EMOTIONAL comfort, saying how I might feel once everything’s stopped, which I thought was nice, because folk are normally ‘juiced’ and sent on their way, I’ve never been asked before how ME is coping.
Now, I’m freaking out about having my Hickman line removed next Tuesday;
I am such a wimp

Truddles
Well done on finishing even if you were there a long time x
My nurses were lovely to, I gave them all an angel pin as thats what they were like to me. My bcn sent me some information about how you mayfeel at the end of treatment after chemotheraphy. I wouldve been going tomorrow for mine, its a funny feeling knowing I dont have to go back.
Im sure you will be just fine on tuesday, I know other ladies who had them removed and they were fine. Im sure you will be too.
Kim xxx
Thanks Truddles.
I shall take plenty of reading and knitting with me(as well as food and tissues!) but I always find that the camaraderie at my unit is such that very often you are so busy chatting away that, before you know it is time to leave.
On the subject of finishing all your treatment I have bought ‘The Cancer Survivor’s Companion’ by Goodhart and Atkins ISBN 978-0-7499-5485-7. It deals with practical ways to cope with your feelings after cancer. I know that I am still on herceptin, but after everything else concerning my treatment I feel that I am now on the home run. My unit are excellent and have also given me lots of ‘after cancer’ leaflets.
I can’t wait to get rid of my portacath too - I was oblivious to everything when it went in so I am sure I will be the same when it is eventually removed.
Now, where did I put my tissues?
Mazzalou - I was given that book info by the hospitals psychologist its a good read.
Im glad the nurses are giving you lots of support to.
Hope you found your tissues ;0)
