Standards of Care launch

Dear Forum members,

We would like to invite you to two forthcoming events.

June 2009 sees the publication of Breast Cancer Care’s Standards of Care for people with secondary breast cancer. These standards aim to empower people with a secondary breast cancer diagnosis by setting out the support and care people should expect to receive. The Standards also explain how to campaign locally to influence change.

We will be launching these Standards across the UK. Our first launch will take place at the Scottish Parliament, Edinburgh, EH99 1SP on Thursday 4 June 2009 between 12-2pm. If you would like to attend please contact Chris Quince, <script type=“text/javascript”>eval(unescape(‘%64%6f%63%75%6d%65%6e%74%2e%77%72%69%74%65%28%27%3c%61%20%68%72%65%66%3d%22%6d%61%69%6c%74%6f%3a%63%68%72%69%73%2e%71%75%69%6e%63%65%40%62%72%65%61%73%74%63%61%6e%63%65%72%63%61%72%65%2e%6f%72%67%2e%75%6b%22%3e%63%68%72%69%73%2e%71%75%69%6e%63%65%40%62%72%65%61%73%74%63%61%6e%63%65%72%63%61%72%65%2e%6f%72%67%2e%75%6b%3c%2f%61%3e%27%29%3b’))</script> or phone 020 7960 3569.

Our English launch will be take place at the Hotel Russell, Russell Square, London on Tuesday 16 June 2009 between 4.30-6.30pm and will follow our Annual Healthcare Professional Conference. At the launches you will hear from people living with secondary breast cancer who are involved at a local level and also from healthcare professionals who have taken steps to improve the care and support for people with secondary breast cancer.

We will be launching the Standards in Wales later on in the year, keep a lookout on these pages for more details.

With kind regards

The Policy and Campaigns Team

Can you please give us a link to the Standards of Care, so we can see what is being launched?

Many thanks, Marilyn

There is no Thursday 16th June. Its either Tuesday 16th or Thursday 18th. Can you confirm date please.

Jane

Bringing this to the top so BCC can confirm the day and date of the London launch.

Jane

The Policy and Campaign Team must be busy!

Hi All

As the post from the Campaigns Team says, I can confirm that the London Launch takes place on Tuesday 16 June 2009.

Hope this clarifies for everyone.

Regards.

Hi
is anyone thinking going to this? I am a bit interested but need to see how I feel and how much effort I need to put in.
I live on the south coast so can get to Waterloo easily, just need to check tubes from there.
Ena

I might go Ena. I think you live quite near me. If I do go I’ll be up in London already as I’m meeting a friend for lunch earlier that day…2 events in one day can be too much for me so haven’t quite decided yet.

Jane

I too would like to go but am still in “limbo land” with regard to what my next treatment is going to be - need to wait and see what’s happening with that etc before I can finally decide.

Kay

Well i might go - if i am feeling more energetic nearer the time.

I’m not able to go to this tomorrow. Is anyone going? Would love a report back.

Jane

I am hoping to be there, trains permitting!

Fiona

Dear All

The Policy and Campaigns department have asked that we share the following information with you all.

We are aiming to get immediate information about the Standards of Care launches on the website by the beginning of next week.

The Standards of Care documents will be downloadable from the website shortly, and can be ordered through the pubs catalogue.

We are planning on-line activities on the Standards of Care in the autumn, and are anticipating a number of different on-line, inter-active events as we know travelling to Edinburgh and London is difficult for so many people, and we want to reach as many people as possible. The physical launches are NOT the only way we’re intending to promote the Standards of Care!

Hope this answers some of your questions.

Best wishes
Annabel

Hi Annabel, please could you post the links on this thread?

Oh well, no reply from BCC <sigh> so I’ll answer my own question.<br>
