Hello
I had a tumour removed and a DIEP flap reconstruction at the end of November, so far all is positive and the lymph node biopsy was clear. Due the the tumour being a grade 3 I will be commencing a 4 - 5 month course of chemotherapy at the end of January. I am hoping to continue working through this treatment as I feel it will help me to remain positive - I have yet to have this confirmed by my manager. Any thoughts on this will be appreciated.
Dear Alison1961

Hi Alison,
I had my chemo back in March and finished in August (2012). Just to let you know i worked all the way through chemo as it kept me sane. My work were fine with it. We worked it so i took the week after chemo off, and then i worked the other 2 weeks. I appreciate its not for everyone but it gave me something to focus on that wasnt cancer.
Good Luck with everything…
Take Care

Hi Rae
Thank you for your reply. I had my meeting with Occupational Health last Friday and they were supportive of my wish to work. I return to work for a couple of weeks this Friday ( am still waiting for chemo date), and thankfully have got a written agreement from the Occupational Health team with regards to me taking time off whilst having chemo. I was really worried before going to the meeting as I didn’t know what their reaction would be, but am chuffed as I feel this will help me to remain positive a focused.
Take care
