hi joanne
are you having IV chemo?
here’s my tips!
the worst thing i found was the canula going in and being in. if you hate needles ask for some EMVA (?) cream, (thats how its pronounced.) this is put on your hand/arm veins an hour before and numbs the pain.
i was nervous and took half a valium that i happened to have , this was allowed!
good idea to take a bottle of water in and drink plenty of fluids. wearing headphones and listening to your favourite music can help with relaxation .
afterwards, be prepared for a couple of restless night if you are on steroids… they really keep you awake. Apparently it helps a bit if you take the last one no later then 2 pm. i chose not to take the oral steroids to combat this… but it can increase nausea. keep drinking lots of fluids after the chemo.
boots travel bands can help with nausea
i am on EPI and i feel ok the evening after chemo but shattered for 2-3 days afterwards.
hope this helps… it is do-able…
good luck
