Hi, following my severe reaction to pixie dust (Paclitaxel) 2 weeks ago I am starting on Abraxane tomorrow. Anyone else on this and any tips / guides would be gratefully received.

Hi Sharon2,
I had Abraxane a year ago, and have to report that it wasn’t too bad in terms of side effects. I took it in conjunction with Xeloda, and have contnued on Xeloda alone since completing the abraxane.
I tried using the cold cap, but gave up as my hair was thinning very badly and just loked a mess, so I accepted hair loss. As with taxotere which I’d had previously, I experienced some peripheral neuropathy in my toes, which now looks as though it is going to be premanent. I had some taste changes, but nothing like as severe as with taxotere, and the fatigue was not as bad either. I did find the effects to be somewhat cumulative, getting slighter more with each dose, but not unmanageable - and it was very effective for me: the combined effects of abraxane and continuing xeloda have kept me stable since the completion of the course.
Good luck!
Jx
