Right bunnies,
Galvanise yourselves because I think we should march enmasse to our leader Pixies hospital and put a bat up the nightdress of the stupid and incompetent nurse responsible for such dreadful so called care. I am so angry ( partlybecause I’m in my good week) that they could allow such a comedy of errors to happen to someone who is dealing with being seriously ill. What planet are these healthcare people on? Perhaps we should consider unleashing The Twins! I’m sure they would be able to impart a piece of their minds and with Mrs Armitage on rear gunner, that hospital could be bought to its knees. We should write a strongly worded letter signed by the warren to outline that all of us have had better care than pixie even though we are all going through basically the same treatment.
Rant over
Saw ONC today who told me that aches and pains would be the most likely side effects of tax. He told me to take both ibuprofen and paracetamol together as they would not work alone. I also understand that the have a cumulative effect like all pain killers so you should try to build them up in your system and not get to a point where pain gets a foothold. Front loading with painkillers is usual but you need to be careful to take your temperature and not to overdose !!! I also received the dreaded news. WEIGHT GAIN !!! Half a stone since starting. It’s basically because I have been on an Olympic diet. Only trouble is I have been on theOlympic hockey team diet, eating for all 11 of the team. Damn.
On the topic of the Olympics I have tickets to watch the hockey and spoke to ONC about it today. I am desperate to go and thought i might miss out but I intend to get there if poss. I have tickets on 4th August and ONC suggested he would prescribe precautionary antibiotics just in case. He also suggested a face mask to minimised the risk of infection as so many people in close proximity carrying germs from all parts of the globe. He said its not a good look but worth it to avoid the risks. He also told me hand gel is a must. I am however worrying that the tax will be so taxing that I won’t make it. I so don’t want this to be the summer I should have gone to theOlympics but couldn’t because of cancer ![]()
Sorry to all you hunkering bunnies who have been splatted by a tax truck and anyone feeling myxi especially you Pixie. Us perky bunnies are here for you. Just take it a day at a time and keep the good days in your mind because they come round before you know it.
Love to all
Vanns x
Hi Bunnies
Oh Vanns, bless you, I love 3rd party indignation
you are quite right, my treatment yesterday in the elective admissions ward was appalling, they seem to have no inkiling whatsoever about cancer treatment. All the ops are scheduled, non-emergencies so i supposed they are unused to having a really poorly person amongst them. After the op, I wass put on another ward and they were disgusted at the way i had been left all day in a private room with not even a blooming window. I will write in a letter of complaint, it won’t change my experience but it may change someone elses.
Have had a day in my pj’s and had to do lots of catching up on Happy Bag Business as had over 200 to get posted out - all now done.
I am so sorry to hear how many of you are suffering with the awful Tax, I had no idea it caused actual pain. makes you realise just how toxic these drugs are, think I might have preferred leeches! Still feeling pretty miserable and shaken up but am working tomorrow - a 3 hour teaching session on Managing Conflict so need to get my bits and pieces together tonight.
Oh Vanns, hockey… for most of my teenage years it was the bane of my life. I went to an all girls school where hockey was de rigeur. The school had a very good reputation and had teams playing in all sorts of leagues. I loathed it with every fibre of my body, it terrified me. I am not very big, just over 5’ if i stretch me neck. As a teenager, i was tiny. Well under 5’ tall and about 7 stone wet through. Some of the other girls were huge, tall, with great big walloping arms and legs on them and boy could they bash that ball - and anyone in their way. It was like an hours GBH 3 times a week. We had hockey all winter and then in summer, lacrosse - and that is even worse as you got bonked on the head all the time. It was compulsory right up to 5th form (age 16, I don’t understand these year things they do now). Thankfully, once I got to the 6th form, hockey lacross and other blood sports were optional.
so… another peripheral topic, we all know Vanns was good at sports and i was the pits. How about everyone else, did you like sports? Do you do any sports now? me? I walk. Not just to the shops, but proper walking, the sort where you wear boots and have a stick and a map I can never understand. Up until bc, we would go off every weekend and do a walk, now we go when i am up to it but am still managing a couple of gentle miles a day with the dogs (not today cos i feel crap) We plan our caravan holidays around walking - coastal paths. So, come on lovely bunnies, are you sporty? Do you exercise?
Mother and auntie arrive Tuesday, really looking forward to seeing them, they were last here when I had my surgery. OH has booked caravan onto a local site for duration and he will stay there and pop home occasionally. Can’t wait to see how Auntie Mary gets on at the chemo unit… bet theres lots of ‘when i was nursing…’ by that she means she had a first aid certificate 30 years ago!
Sarabee, we can hunker together, and anyone else struggling and finally Sara, I knw exactly what you mean… tomorrow i will turn up for work and people will tell me how fantastic i look… how bright and positive i am… and i want to scream and say ‘have you any idea how much frigging effort this takes… how I push myself?’
Vanns, i have also put on weight, for 2 weeks out of every 3, I am just hungry all the time. Not doing junk, well chocolate now and again, but am hungry for carbs, like jacket potatoes, bread, weetabix… and masses of toast (organic wholemeal of course) with manuka honey!! hey Southpool, thankks fpor Aldi tip, I cleared their shelves of manuka.
Hugs to all the warren, I love being a bunny
Pixie xxxxxxx
Hi bunnies
Pixie your treatment is completely unacceptable, we all feel so vulnerable at the moment and that nurse should be shot for not listening or caring. Make sure you write a letter of complaint, they need to know the distress they have caused. If you don’t get an adequate response threaten them with a posse from the warren & Vanns can supply the hockey sticks for us to attack with.
I have been in work for the last two days & Sara your description of the effort involved in getting ready summed my thoughts up exactly. They only see me on my good days & are now assuming that chemo must be OK and I am ok to be at their beck & call everyday. My own team are great, they only contact me when they really need my advice or guidance, but others are now really bugging me. I am sick of people saying I look fantastic, how great it is to have lost weight & how they would love hair that you just put on & it looks fab! Well actually I only look fab due to very good make up, I really don’t enjoy not eating much for 10 days out of every 21 and they bloody wouldn’t like wearing a wig however salon perfect it looks!!! I have bitten my tongue several times today, smiled politely & swore under my breath. But tonight I have been out for a japanese meal for a good friends 60th, it was a lovely relaxed evening with friends who are truly supportive and I forgot all about my work collegues responses. Bc has really sorted the wheat from the chaff!
Pixie I was one of those girls hitting the hockey ball with force. Also went to a all girls grammer school where sport was really important,I am 5ft 10,
very long limbed & large framed, also very competitive and loved sport until the age of 15. I used to swim, play tennis, netball & hockey and then
at 15 discovered music, boys & the art room and sport took a complete backseat. I am now 48 and never rediscovered my previous love of
exercise and am now a complete lazy arse.
Despite my rant I am perky & am off to my favourite place in the world for a long weekend tomorrow, co counting my blessing.
Positive vibes to all in this fantastic warren. This journey would be much harder without all your support
Sx
Yes pixie you need to complain if even to prevent someone else being treated so badly. That was complete negligence and she should have contacted the doctor and had you commenced on IV fluids.
I’m not a sporty person at all. I have joined the gym on several occasions and made a monthly donation to them but never used the equipment. I am a spotty person though due to TAX!
Just coming on to my good week now. Feeling less tired and managing to plan my day without feeling like I have to go back to bed. TAX no 5 due next Friday.
Have reflexology this afternoon. looking forward to that.
Having our usual Scottish summer here today. Pouring down. Dog and cat refusing to go out.
Hope evryone is coping OK. Those of you who need to retreat to the warren, snuggle up together and keep warm.

Sara, I think we are all in agreement re effort to try to look good / normal whatever. Tho yesterday a friend I had not seen for a while said how nice it was to see me looking so lovely, which somehow was better than well etc and I felt my effort had been worth it
Sorry you have had such a horrid time Pixie, you must complain, as you say it may help someoneelse in the future. I was speaking to a woman at the hospital yesterday who only found out about her diagnosis for bc when she turned up for her appt with surgeon following biopsies and found she’d been booked in with the plastic surgeon to discuss reconstruction following a double mastectomy. She didn’t even know at that point she had bc!
Re sports, I played netball for my school ( Sutton girls, Vanns) usually on sub bench! Got fed up being cold so got a Saturday job in a green grocers! Hated hockey as well, used to get told off for talking to the goalie. Love athletics but as an armchair participator, can’t wait fo Olympics. Did start running a few years ago and really enjoyed it, it was a great stress buster. Did the odd 10k race andghas signed up to do the first B’ham Half marathon . Unfortunately I had 2 prolapsed discs and couldn’t do it. Advice from medics has been pack in the running. I do miss it but now walk instead. And finally just bought myself a new bike to pootle about on!
Re LGFB goody bag, I was v impressed with my lot, here goes: cleanser, toner, make up remover, puffy eye stuff, moisturiser, green corrective skin stuff, concealer, foundation, eyeshadow, 3 lippies, eyebrow pencil, eyeliner, blusher, lip liner, face powder, mascara and a lovely big bottle of perfume, all in a useful travel size make up bag! Range of makes from boots to Clinique toEstée Lauder
Sorry pressed post before had chance to finish off and read through post. Sorry for typos etc.
Was going to add, I enjoyed the LGFB as much for the meeting up with others in same situation and the products were also a real treat. Would recommend if you haven’t done it.
Love to all, hope SE’s not too horrid.
Gaynor x
Pixie, I hope you are going to complain about the original portacath procedure as well. I think that radiographer should be made to come and survey the state of your jugular and your patchwork quilt of scars so that they realise the consequences of a botched job. I think it’s amazing that you can get yourself together so soon to get into work today and am sure you’ll do brilliantly.
Vanns - I wish I’d had better advice about pain management, Every time I go to oncology I see a different person - only seen the consultant once, then his registrars after that. The last one didn’t seem terribly confident. At my next appointment I’m going to be discussing it in much more detail and making sure that either I have stronger painkillers or they can give me better advice about paracetamol/ibuprofen. My registrar said to only use paracetamol - don’t understand why the advice was different from yours.
As to sport - I think you and I are similar Southpool - I’m 5’11" and large framed. Used to be in netball, hockey, athletics and tennis teams until 16 then stopped after that. As an adult used to play a lot of social tennis and walk a lot (with boots and map like you Pixie). Have also had periods of gym and exercise class attendance - getting very fit, also dabbled in sailing and scuba diving. However unfortunately about 10 years ago I started to get a number of ailments that affected my overall health, and those together with back pain, dodgy knees and a very weak ankle have meant that I get no exercise at all now and have joined Southpool in the lazy arse club. I really miss the walking but can’t risk it now as I’m afraid that something will go wrong with back/knees/ankle whilst in the middle of nowhere and I’d get stuck.
Christine, it’s pouring down here too. One of my cats is sensible and keeps indoors, but the younger one goes out in all weathers, coming back looking like a little punk with spiky fur. He either plonks himself down on the other cat, expecting to be licked dry, or presents himself to me so that I can towel him down. But as soon as he’s dry he’s often back outside again. He is the one that gets stuck up trees though, so we know he’s a cat of little brain!
Well I’m on day 10 of TAX 1 now and am starting to feel less tired. Miraculously the coating disappeared off my tongue yesterday, so I’m getting a degree of taste back although not back to full strength. Had a completely lazy day yesterday so am hoping I’ll have more stamina when I go out later.
Have a good day everyone.
Sara x
Had my 1st TAX yesterday, with no allergic reaction, yippee. So for me much better that FEC already. Waiting for the truck but hoping it wont become too delibitating, painkillers at the ready. I have my TAX every two weeks so when I read that the taste gets better around day 16 my heart sank. I find the taste problems the worst and the dry mouth. Chewing gum is brilliant for the dry mouth (organic/no sugar etc) but I dont want to be sucking mints all day if I can help it. Has anyone found any miraculous discoveries?
Rain and wind helps the hunkering down as it doesnt look fun to go out there.
Missing my tennis, loved Hockey but the thought of running up and down a hockey pitch makes me feel quite ill.
Sara, I have to take the injection for 8 nights, doh! Might ask my ONC about just taking a higher dose once.
Its wonderful to here everyones stories (too many names for now) about treatment and other stuff.
I was lucky enough to receive olympic tickets (equestrian and athletics) and hope to be able to work some of my TAX treatments around them.
Hats off to everyone on here and hope its ok to be joining in with you guys. Lisa
Hi Everyone
Well had tax yesterday and im pleased to say no sickness up to yet fell ok Lisa like you defo better than FEC up to yet but waiting for the truck and trots to hit so not being to bright
Pixie you are doing reaaly well and i admire your energy all these happy bags and working could you send me some energy please
Hope everyone doing well will check in later

Morning everyone.
Lisa, it’s lovely to have another bunny in our warren. You’ll have to find a bunny pic for your avatar!! My neutrophil booster jabs come over 5 days, days 5-10. I’m on filgrastim which I guess may be what you are also on, slightly diff to neulasta but same overall effect and I think a bit cheaper for the NHS trust.
Well, 44 hours on I can feel the tax truck nudging its way on my driveway. Just what the onc predicted. Worse though at the mo is that for all my adult life I have had on going back problems. Every few years or so something gives way in my lower back and I am in agony for days. It is usually triggered by something stupidlysimple. This time just leaning slightly forward to put something down on a low table. Luckily I had already got co-codamol lined up for the tax truck so I started on that yesterday and it is now a case of resting the back for a few days without letting it seize up completely. So, back probs, tax truck and neut boost jabs means I’m writing next week off, but still aiming to dragmyself to that Olympic torch photo call tomorrow somehow.
Interestingly the best thing for my back has been exercise over the years. I suffered more when I was immobile in front of a computer doing my high powered job for years on end. When we moved to the east mids due to oh’s work four years ago I took welcome early retirement. Everyone said I’d be bored out of my mind and what would I do. I said ‘join a gym and get fit’. They laughed. The laugh was on me cos that’s just I divi did. So pixie, I’m not sporty but I LOVE my bannatyne gym membership. For 3 and a half years I’ve gone 4-5 times a week. I do gym sessions, Personal training, swim and do various classes. Zumba is best!! Sadly as the bc treatment has got more underway I haven’t been able to keep this up and it is clearly having a detrimental effect on that ongoing back problem. Just glanced up this para - I like ‘divi did’ on the good old ipad - meant to read ‘just what I did’!!! Anyway I’ll be back at the gym when this is all done and now I’ve committed to doing a race for life next year I’ll have to get in some serious training!!!
Tracy my lgfb goody bag, which iPad thinks should be a KGB bag, contained pretty much the same as gaynor has described. Think that’s probably standard, but different brands. Hope you enjoy your session next week.
Right, where’s my kindle. I’m reading Lullaby by Clare Seeber. Bit heart wrenching about a stolen baby. To add to the books lists, I adore anything by Jodi Picoult, except the tenth circle. Her books are so well written and so well researched. She never fails to challenge society. My book tastes are eclectic. I’ve been rereading Jane Austen and DH Lawrence recently amongst others I’ve mentioned in previous posts.
Love to everyone. Pixie, hope you are managing to work today. Don’t know how you do it!!!
Margiexx
Hi Bunnies,
Feeling a bit better on day 2 post FEC 4- the meds must be about right now, as I can eat andrink thistime. Not able to do so at this stage before now! Still tempted to stay under the duvet readingthough, as weather is grim and have no plans for today.Sport? Was not great at school ( also a girls grammar in London). Lovetennis, but my best friend was left handed and hopeless, so all we did was giggle. Also enjoyed netball, but never enough to play properly. Took up Jane Fonda keep fit in the eighties, with Farrah Fawcett hair and pnk shiny leg warmers, even taught keep fit to year 11 girls in my first teaching school! Then met lovely geography teacher who skied and did several trips to Lichtenstein. Loved it and got quitegood, until had a nasty accident in Switzerland 20 years ago which completely buggered up my left shoulder ( bc side) and put paid to my sporting life.
I also did the gym thing- paid a hugeamount of dosh for the privilege of not using it, but feeling virtuous because of the membership. Nowadays I do Pilates ahave have a water rower at home so I can imagine I’m rowing on the river. Want to do yoga, ( quite fancy a yoga retreat somewhere warm and abroad) and nowf feel a bit inspired by Margietee to join another gym!!! We have Olympics tickets too, but not great timing as justafter FEC 5 for me, so may have to just watch on telly. A real pain as was looking forward to going for the whole experience.
Also in awe of our leader who is working today despite all the latest portocath drama. Must be takin considerable courage, dear pixie! Bloody well done.
Just finished book and need to start next one. Such tOugh decisions- I used to be a career woman. Look at me now!!
Welcome to Lisa- may the taxtruck continue to be gentle with you and all other bunnies on it now.
Battery running low now. Pop back later.
Love
Leexxx
Evening bunnies,
Well it has not stopped rainy heavily all day, is blowing a gale & is so cold we have our heating on. So much for flaming June. Due to the shocking weather we are giving our trip to Harlech a miss & staying home. Am a bit disappointed but we have time off in early July & are going for a week so that is good to look forward too.
Have only worked for an hour today and have gad chance to chill. Got a pedicure & now have lovely red shellac toenails that I hope will last me until end of TAX. Also met my IFA & sorted my finances out. I worked in insurance for 25 years and have always had good insurance cover including a critical illness policy which has now paid out. It is crap that I have had to claim but am grateful that we are now financially secure especially as I am self employed.
Margie you have inspired me with your gym story & I have now decided to leave my lazy lifestyle behind & join the gym when I finish work at the end of the year. I love dancing so think Zumba might be right up my street.
Sara we do sound very similar, I am looking forward to meeting fellow bunnies as I have pictures in my mind from the many & varied posts.
Pixie I hope work hasn’t been too draining & your wounds are healing.
I am now settling down for an evening of football & David Bowie on BBC4.
Hope all bunnies have the best evening they can.

Hi bunnies,
I have found the sport stories interesting and also that so many of us seem to have attended girls grammar schools. Do you think this is where we got bc from? I loved sport from an early age and swam for my area from age seven. I then moved into athletics and ran for royal Sutton coldfield which GMT should know. Have played county squash and regional hockey but have finally given it all up for golf and cycling which ismuch kinder to my body than running. I am small but tough which is why I was drawn to hockey not netball. I would encourage everyone to cycle as you can see some beautiful places in the country by bike in a similar way to walking although you can cover greater distances. We always manage to stop at both a pub and a tea shop !!! Until bc I was also trying to get into the staffs county golf team but that going to have to wait now as I have been told by all the healthcare people to avoid upper body stuff because of the risk of lymphadema. Apparently I can start again when chemo and rads are finished.
Because of my love of cycling I have been drawn to a couple of the events that bcc run to raise money. There is a pink ribbon ride atBlenheim inaugust which is 26.4 miles. It might be a bit too soon for me this year but I am definitely doing it next year. It’s not on any roads and takes you round the grounds and through the parkland and it looks lovely. It’s not a race and you can stop halfway for refreshments. You ahve to raise £200 which I think I can manage and might try to get a few of my pals to do it with me. The details are on the main sight. There is also a pink ribbon walk which we could do as a warren ???
Anyway glad people are keeping the tax truck at bay and not getting caught like rabbits in the headlights.
Vannsx
Vanns
I love the idea of the warren doing a pink ribbon walk. I think it is a fantastic idea and am happy to help organise.
Also intrigued by the girls grammar theme, it may explain why we are a competitive bunch. I like the idea of my school somehow being responsible for my bc - Wolverhampton Girls High School great for o’levels, a’ levels and bc ( I’m sure they would love that on their publicity! ).
Back to the footie chortling away to myself.

Hi Bunnies
Phew, what a busy day I have had. Slept well and outa the house for 8am as teaching at 9am - Conflict Management. One of the learners, Trevor, brought me chocolates and flowers - not sure if he is trying to bribe me, woo me or feel sorry for me.
Anyway, it was a 4 hour tutorial including a half hour break and i really enjoyed it - but had a couple of chemo moments… asked one person if he would like coffe in his tea. he said i usually find a spoonful of sugar sufficient. Thyen I got to the bit about using a collaborative appriach to conflict but could not pronounce collaborative! Thankfully, I have been working with this particular groupo for over a year so we could all laugh and they all know i am being treated for cancer so it is quite a relaxed session.
When we broke, i went to see a couple fo the ladies in HR to sell a few Happy bags (I never miss a beat) and took along my LGFB goody bag of which I am very proud and utterly delighted with. One of the ladies Jo, excalimed oh its gorgeous, its to die for!! I said well, i am not intending to but bc is a crafty bugger… then started laughing. She was initially mortified but quickly saw i thought it was funny and laughed along.
I like the idea of a warren pink ribbon walk - we could wear our ears!
Well this week we have done sex, books, sport girls grammar schools (wondering if Pareto principle applies… 80% of women who get bc went to an all girls grammar school and were forced to play hockey…) so I now have a new peripheral for us… how about we all reveal one ‘interesting’ fact about ourselves. Something that will make the other bunnies go ‘well I never’…
I’ll go first… are you ready??? (have several to chose from!) but here is one 'interesting fact about me… I am currently on husband number 4 who I married in Las Vegas in 2009…
over to you bunnies… giggles.
Sorry the tax truck is horrid for so many of you and feel that I am getting off lightly just having FEC but no doubt my day will come as i will still be plodding through the herceptin river when most of you lovely bunnies are munching the clover again - ya better not leave me on me ownsome, the herceptin threads aren’t half as much fun as this one!
Right, am off to find me insurance policies… wondering if I have critical illness cover and could get a pay out??? Don’t even know where the blooming policies are! Am hopeless at this stuff. tell meself i am a financial whizz cos i got round to opening an ISA!
As you can probably gather, i am back to my perky self… have to be, the happy bags are turning into big business, today have been asked to supply the Pink Ribbon Ball in October. OH says i will be the only woman running a national business at a permanent personal loss!! Giggles, perhaps i shall have to go on Dragons Den!
Right, much love to all in the warren, be gentle with yourselves cos the chemo won’t be.
Pixie xxx
Southpool you make me laugh so much,
I actually know all the P.E staff at Wolverhampton grammar as the school I work at ( Edgbaston High School for Girls) play fixtures against them. perhaps when I get back to work I could suggest this bc publicity line for their new prospectus !!!
Lee do try to go to the Olympics even ifthou have to delay your chemo a week. Don’t look back and think that was the year of the Olympics that I didn’t go to because of the horried grammar school disease.
Pixie, as you can tell I loved hockey and would have spent every waking moment playing it at school if I could have done. I thoroughly enjoy coaching it too and I am a selector for our junior county squads where I look out for girls who look like they can commit GBH 3 times a week!! Thanks to the game no longer being played on grass it’s a fantastically skilfully game to watch and both our men’s and ladies teams have a good chance of getting a medal in theOlympics.
GB hockey also made a commitment a few years ago to improve the looks of the team, replacing all the blokey looking girls with blonde pony tailed ones, thus improving the viewing but not the GBH unfortunately. I feel this is a shame as the grass, freezing cold mud and girls that look like the could have handled mike Tyson for a few rounds, all added to the spirit of the game. Think back to your P.E. Teacher ( probably who wore some strange games skirt arrangement) I bet she was a force to be reckoned with. That is the spirit that the game sadly lacks now. It’s a bit whimpy in comparison. I remember having a ball struck at me at point blank range ( by my now partner -nice ) fracturging my big toe, and continuing to play on to the end of the game. You don’t get kids like that nowadays. OMG I am turning into The Twins ! I will go away now
Vanns x
Hey that’s not fair. I think I did my “reveal an interesting fact” a few pages ago! I’m not outing myself twice thats just asking for trouble !
I must be the exception that proves the rule. Went to a girls school, but it was a bog standard comprehensive. Sorry to let the side down, tally ho and all that
my sister played lacrosse for the school. Ours was the only comprehensive in the league. They won a lot of games by having the attitude described above (basically bullies!) and scoffed the posh teas happily at all the public schools. I expect they all hated visiting ours! Lacrosse is like hockey on steroids. Scary stuff bashing sticks near heads
me, I was rubbish at hockey. Would have been good at netball if I’d been taller, but sadly I’m a shortie
best at bowling in rounders - I spent a whe summer once learning how to fast bowl underarm and after that there was no stopping me lol! Shame there’s no rounders in the Olympics. I was quite good at ten pin bowling and archery at 6th form college, had to give the archery up when my breasts got in the way. Funnily enough, I’m contemplating taking it up again now I’ve had a left mx, have visions of myself as some sort of Amazonian :-))
Interesting fact. Hmm, I have two degrees. Microbiology and mathematics.
Hmm - providing an ‘interesting fact’ reminds me of being on corporate courses where I could never think of anything appropriately interesting when everyone else seemed to be able to. I remember one chap telling us that he had once peed in his grandmother’s sideboard… (as a child, he added as an afterthought). I’m still not sure I can think of anything really, unless assaulting a manager counts! When working in a bar in Australia the manager patted my bum as he was passing by while I was bending down to put away some glasses. Without thinklng I swung round and gave his bum a resounding slap - he didn’t know what had hit him! He would have liked to sack me but there was a witness to the whole thing so he had to let it go. I shouldn’t have done it of course but it was just an instinctive reaction and he really was a sexist b…d anyway.
Vanns, I can’t share your love of hockey I’m afraid. I might have been in the U15’s team but always thought it a vicious game. At our school we were too vain to wear shinpads because we thought they made our legs look fat… and we always dreaded the matches with one particular school because they all used to hack at our shins ‘by accident’ with their sticks or hit the ball directly at our legs at close quarters also ‘by accident’ and I still have the dents in my shin bones to prove it!. Not sure about the girls’ grammar theory - I went to two girls’ grammars with a coed grammar in between - does that make me doubly likely to get bc?
Anyway, I need to go and have a lie down now, because all this talk of future planned sporting activities has worn me out just reading about it.
Sara x
Good morning bunnies
Vanns! You are giving me post-traumatic stress - the way you describe hockey, thats exactly what it was like, great big walloping girls with huge feet and ruddy cheeks and a hockey mistress like something out of the eastern block… I wanted to be reading Jackie magazine and plucking me eyebrows, not being bashed black and blue with a wooden stick. As for lacrosse, it should be banned, half the blooming school sported bandages all summer.
I am about as un-sporty as you can get. Yesterday, after i finished work, i called in the butchers and they had an England flag in the window. I said, “you still have your jubilee flag up then” and was told “no, its for the football”.
What football? Know Southpool keeps ironing and watching football, but is it the world cup or something?
However, i will watch the olympics on telly, quite like the variety you get. And i did sit up the night Steve Redgrave and Matthew Pinsett won gold in Australia, even cried at that one. It tends to be anything that involves a ball that I loathe, just find it achingly dull.
Tonight we are off to the theatre and wondering if i should sport a surgical mask like Vanns at the olympics?or perhaps i could ask my near neighbours if they are infectious. I seem to be constantly on anti-biotics but just pIck up infection after infection. Currently have swollen glands in me neck and a snotty nose again. See, if i had played hockey in all weathers, i may have been a bit more robust. And portacath one incision that looks like the coastline of Chile on me chest, is oozing again.
A couple of weeks ago I found a smashing thread in the secondaries section. It is called gormless. That is what attracted me to read as ‘gormless’ is one of mother and aunties favourite words. Anyway, this thread concerns gormless shopping that we do especially when waiting for results. It is a very funny thread… And i now contribute to the general gormless merriment. Think it would suit some of Our warren.
Right, on the agenda today is trip to post office as have 12 happy bag parcels to post, walk the dogs then come home and try to find insurance policies to see if i have critical illness cover. I thought they only paid out if it was terminal, so was a suprise to hear Southpool say hers was paying out. Well i am critical, and the blooming portacath fiasco is seeing to that!
So, have a lovely Saturday bunnies, be gentle with your whiskers and make sure you have at least 3 belly laughs.
I am on a count down to mam day… Mother and auntie mary. 3 days to go before the broomstick express arrives in town!
much love
