Day 5 Fec round 2

Busy day today… family and friends and my GRANDKIDS vsited… was awake at 2.53am to be precise… totally worn out now though so its bedtime… mouth real bad… struggling to eat today… district nurse came to do 1st injection… lovely nurse!

Tiredness hitting big time today but I am determined to cook a Mothers Day meal tomorrow for the mum in law…

Alison,Gonna show grandaughter Annie your rat when she comes tomorrow lol xx

I always though that <3 was a sideways heart but think the rat is cuter!
Love the poems Kath, could almost taste spring with that last one! Have you ever been published? Love the new photo and definitely more twinkle than MOS! Xx
Got to go out for coffee with a friend today, felt lovely and normal even though very hot in cafe wearing a hat and not sure that the latte was such a great idea with post chemo tum!
Talking of new looky likeness, found myself wondering today if any friends are likely to throw a fancy dress party in the near future as I think Harry Hill would be a very easy costume to pull off at the moment!
Thats for the sleep hat suggestion Linda, it did help. Also smothered head in Aqueous cream which gave instant relief to soreness, worth buying if like me you’re facing radiothrepay next, have read several times that it can prevent sore skin caused by treatment.
Hoping this evening finds all Valentines in as good health as can be expected and everyone coping with SEs xx
Happy Mother’s Day to all Mummy’s for tomorrow
Hugs to all
Elaine xx

Have a lovely Mothering Sunday all you miracle Mums who are carrying on in such brilliant fashion in adversity!
XXXXXXX Louise

Hi everyone and Happy Mothers Day to all the Mums among us… and Grandmas too of course!
My first chemo was on Thursday & so far so good. Bit of a restless night last night, but think that was more to do with my new iPhone 5 which I picked up yesterday! Found a great app - Sleep Centre - which monitors your sleep patterns. it’s meant to make you sleep better anyhow. Don’t know how, though!
Portacath - had mine done under general and wouldn’t be without it! it took about 40 mins total & I was out of hospital same afternoon. No problems apart from a bit of a stiff neck and shoulder.
Lovely poems Kath… Please keep them coming. They really brighten up my day!

FECx6 round 1 Day24
Happy Mothering Sunday to all mums, wish my mum and mother in law were here, they were treasures.Giving them special thoughts today <3
Louise,OMG woke up this morning, hair was in two matted clumps!!!Really needed to wash whatever was there so did that best i could,as it felt like dreadlocks.Took ages to tease it through with wide tooth brush, got half a carrier bag of hair out of it!!!Now have bald patch on top towards the back, still got all round hair,so tucked it behind ears.See what is left when appt comes round for 2nd dose, may not be enough for c/c to continue. How is yours doing now?
Karen snapdragons are antirrhinums, foxgloves tall woodland/cottage garden, flowers although the new one I got is a lot smaller.Glad you had chance to get done up and out for a meal, something normal for a change.
Normal sunday for me ,Angela and grandaughters maybe son in law Tony coming for dinner tonight.Eldest daughter Sarz just said she would grace us with her company for dinner too, aren’t we privileged!!Although it means special cooking as Sarz is strict vegetarian,so no cross contamination allowed.Lovely to have them all here though, girls don’t see much of each other.
Oh well must hoover up all my hair that is floating around the house,I can see why most of you just lopped it off in the end.Have a lovly day Valentines Love Chris xxxxx

Morning Valentines,

After all that talk about Spring after Kath’s poem, guess what? It’s snowing!!! Not much, but it is soooooo cold.

We are off to our daughter’s for dinner tonight for Mothers Day. My entire family will be there - my wonderful husband, our fantastic daughter and her husband, and our two brilliant teenage grandchildren (14 and 17), plus Lola our dog and Colin their dog.

Happy Mothers Day to all you mums and grandmas. xxxxx <3

Morning ladies, only 3 hours for me but feel great, hope everyone has a great day ,Enjoy…xxxx

Karen, snapdragons are Antirrhinums.

As it’s mothering Sunday, (I’m very old fashioned) here’s a poem I wrote for my late mum when she was alive. It still works even though she died in 2010.

MY MOTHER
On lonely nights when icy winds
Around my windows blow,
I like to curl up in my chair
And watch the embers glow.

My thoughts drift back to years gone by,
When I was just a child
And Mother’s voice floats back to me
So tender and so mild.

Her sweet perfume and rosy glow
Brings teardrops to my eye,
Remembering how she used to sing
A gentle lullaby.

I keep her close within my heart
Although she’s far away,
My Mother’s love will linger on
Until I’m old and grey.

Happy Mothering Sunday. Even if you don’t have children, you have probably ‘mothered’ someone at some time in your life.

I bet we’re the only thread with our own Poet Laureate! Really super Kath. XXXX Louise

Oh Kath, how lovely. My mum died in 2006 and I miss her every single day. She lived with us for 17 years in her own little granny flat attached to our house, and we were very close.

Lovely poem Kath, made me cry.Lost mum aged 62,1993 and mother in law, second mum to me,2007.Keep 'em coming Kath, whether we laugh or cry, they’re lovely.Love Chris xxxx<3

FEC1 day 11

Happy Mother’s Day Valentines. I’m sure everyone spending today with family will have a treasured time.

It shocks me to realise how this damn disease, despite the fear and discomfort it brings, has also shown me how much I’ve been letting life drift rapidly by without appreciating the blessings I have.

Reading today’s posts makes me grateful that I still have both my Mum and Dad as well as being a mum to my wonderful boys. My eldest son and I have had a lovely day together and have been able to chat to the rest of the family on Skype.

As I sit in my kitchen I can see tiny buds appearing on the trees and the tips of the crocus and narcissus are poking their heads out (admittedly through the snow today). 6 months ago I’d have been to busy to see them.

Kath, I loved your poem. It reminds me that we all had mothers and whether we are mums ourselves or not it’s a good day to think both of those we can see now but also of those who have passed but who shared their motherly love so willingly.

I’m lucky to be having a very SE free day today so am sending a bit of that to you all.

Hugs

Mandy x
