Hi all
Havent been on for a while and amazed at how long the thread is now ( ive had a lot of catching up to do) Im glad all are progressing well. I went back for results yesterday. All nodes removed were clear. ( sigh of relief , i’d convinced myself it would be bad news). I will be having chemo followed by rads then tamoxifen. Im waiting for a start date, possibly end of jan, but may be beginning of feb. I’ve been offered a trial, waiting for info to arrive. It would mean I would get a bone scan and CT scan, that I wouldnt get otherwise. I thought these things were standard, but supposed it depends on area.
Depending on start date may join the next thread. Checking the post everyday, cant bare the waiting, wont to get on with it!!

Hello everyone!! 1 down 5 to go!! I’m not sure why i was so worried! needle going in hand was the worst bit - and that wasn’t bad!! cold cap was actually quite pleasant - maybe it’s my canadian roots coming through!! - i actually weirdly enjoyed it!! had a tansion headache before and it relieved it for me!!
Anyway - going to bed for nap before little ones come home!! didn’t sleep well last night!
Take care everyone!

Hi
Woo hoo! 1 down, 5 to go. Well done Marina, you are brave having chemo at home. It was a bit sore going in, well more freezing cold sensation. OH decided to go shopping when red stuff was go in; whimp lol. Had to wait longer for tablets and for them to find a sharps bin for me to take home, think district nurse usually uses her bin but I’m doing my own injection tomorrow.
Just slight dull headache but nothing else. Like previous posts I’m waiting for something to happen.
Hugs to everyone Anne xx
Wineoclock, enjoy your night out, thongs made me laugh.
Also been given odansatron for next 2 days, dexamethosome also for 2 days them metrocloprimide for as long as I think I need them. A nurse is going to phone me tonight and in morning to check on me.

Evening ladies
Winelock - I’m on FEC 75. Not sure what that means, maybe it indicates the dose. Hope you’re enjoying your night out.
I’m on day 11, I think. Not sure if the day you have it is day 1, or the next day. I’m guessing my blood count will be down now, but still feel OK. Sometimes a bit whoozy or wobbly, but carrying on pretty normally. My ears are ringing a little bit. I checked my blood pressure today as my mum has a gadget at home and that was normal, which is reassuring. People keep telling me I still look disgusting well.
I’m going to give the yacht club a miss tonight as am feeling paranoid about being with people with germs. And it saves explaining to people that I’m not kissing anybody, not even on the cheek!
Have a lovely weekend everybody. It looks like it will be a nice sunny one.

Hi Everyone
Just thought I’d let you know it’s Day 10 and I’m feeling really good!
I went back to work on Wednesday, which was a real effort and I felt very knackered by 3pm. But I felt a bit better yesterday and alot better today – 99% myself again. I had horrid heartburn and backache for a couple of days, but that’s gone.
It’s so good to feel well again! I’m going to have a nice restful weekend, as my immunity is low until next week, so will avoid crowds. We’ll hopefully go out for a walk, the weather is going to be bright and sunny.
I’ve still got hair - my scalp sometimes feels a bit tingly and itchy and I give my hair a tug, but it’s still there.
I’m glad to see that most people are doing really well.
Have a good weekend.
Jane

Hi again everyone
Meeting with onc went well. I have my first chemo at 11am on monday morning! Soooooo pleased, nervous and a little scared all at the same time. But reading how amazingly all you ladies that have started already are doing reassures me heaps!!!
Was told to buy digital thermometer by onc that was it as far as preparation. Any suggestions of anything else I should buy before monday?
Hope you all have a good weekend.

Hi everyone, well I’m still alive too after my first FEC yesterday. It was a very long day, we got there at 10 and didn’t leave until 5.15 but we did have a couple of hours off so went into town for lunch.
The actual chemo only took about an hour, I had the cold cap, it was very uncomfortable when it first went on but after 5 minutes it was fine. I was told to wash my hair only once a week (I usually wash it every day so this will be difficult) and to use a PH neutral shampoo – any recommendations?
Had a bit of dinner last night but then started to feel really sick despite all the drugs (I was given Emend which the nurse was very surprised about for a first treatment as it’s very expensive). Went to bed early and slept ok, got up once for a red wee! This morning I feel like I’ve got a hangover, a bit queasy and a headache so will take it easy today. Managed a Weetabix and I am sipping ginger cordial.
Apart from Emend I have been given Ondansetron for 3 days, Dexamethasone for 3 days and Domperidone if required. Have borrowed one of those boxes from mother-in-law so I take the right drugs at the right time!
Has anyone else been offered a trial drug called Denosumab? I signed up for this so I also have to take a daily Calcium and Vitamin D tablet. The trial drug or placebo is injected prior to my chemo. For someone who only takes the occasional painkiller and never has a day off work all this is a shock to the system!
Hope you all have a good weekend.

Thanks maj Will try this. All SE’s at bay but finger still sore. Feeling abit more positive today fingers crossed can only look to get better now! X have a good weekend all X
Clare simple shampoo is ph balanced i got the baby simple shampoo as use that one on my little ones. I Also have simple conditioner too as I’m curly and frizzy and with no products and straighteners thought needed the conditioner! Glad you’re ok. My nauseaous feeling lasted only a day and a half but still no appetite. Just eat wat you can wen you can. X
nicola good luck for Monday wishing it all goes ok and SE’s are small.
Hi All
MaryC I just wanted to say that I got my appetite back by about day 5 and Clare my hangover feeling lasted for about 4 days. I felt really rough and was more worried that I was going to feel that way for the whole of my treatment. My first FEC was 5th Jan so I guess I am about day 9 and i have felt really well since Wednesday.
Hope this helps

I’m curious about what drugs people having FEC have been given to come home with. It looks like they may be different, which surprises me.
I was given Dexamethasone for 3 days (a steroid for anti sickness, metoclopramide if I steel felt sick. And I was given Lansoprazole to prevent acid reflux. This reduces the amount of acid your stomache produces. Has anybody else been prescribed this?
Hope you’re all OK this morning.
