Starting chemo in March 2014

Hi ladies who are suffering from sickness on FEC, ask your oncologist for Emend before FEC 2 as this certainly was a life saver for me on FEC. You don’t tend to get sickness on docetaxel XXX

hi everyone sickness has stopped still in hosp as temp almost 30 so might have infection starting. will have bloods taken in the morning to be checked if all ok then can go home xx

Hi all and sorry to hear of your sickness Missy21. I had my first session yesterday afternoon and thankfully it was much better than I expected. The cold cap was fine; i am hoping that is due to my thick hair (even with pixie cut) rather than loosely fitted cap! I think I have been lucky so far to have only felt nauseous late last night and tonight. I felt really tired this afternoon and have slight heartburn at the moment but otherwise ok.Will keep you posted. Best wishes to you all.

hi tracey1968 hi I have been given ondansetron 8mg is this the tablet u mentioned for anti sickness

hi kirstykat I am home today, had similiar sickness like u on fec 100. feel that I cant do this again to my body espec another five times.

eitika u may be ok, I had morning sickness when.i was pregnant, also.after surgery always so knew that would be sick with chemo, just did not think it would be so quick.

hi kirtsykat mine was grade 2 but i had lymph nodes involved. 3 out of 14 er+ her2- so was happy when got clear margins. did not really want chemo.but for children.and my mum decided to give it a try

roseberry how are you feeling now? im glad to be home really. I cut my hair short too for cold cap but my head afterwards was not cold nor was my hair wet. our cap had to be changed every 45mins, its a waiting game now to see what happens in the coming days

Morning. Can I ask if anyone else is suffering from constipation? Not been able to go since chemo on Weds, and so far a hot curry, bran flakes, coffee and pineapple juice not having the (ahem) ‘desired effect’. Welcome any suggestions! Other than that, doing okay - went wig shopping yesterday so going back next week to try on one that’s been ordered in for me. Found one that’s a good fit and style, but totally wrong colour so looks a bit Boris Johnson - not really the look I’m going for! Got two other bob styles put on hold for me, actually pleasantly surprised by the quality and colour of them. Made easier by taking 2 friends along who I know will be honest, and tried to make it feel like a normal girls shopping trip.

Hi ladies,

Just popped in from December Angels to wish you all good luck in treatment and hope side effects are minimal.

Stelwah . Constipation with Tax is very common and I have been suffering from it over last three sessions. Chemo nurse advised to take senokot and I have been doing this which has helped a little however i have also experienced the opposite from about day 6 from Tax for a few days lol, cant win either way.

Take care everyone sending lots of hugs to you all.

Wyn xx

Hi all, thank you for your messages I’ve already seen on this thread, very informative. My IDC grade 3 dx was removed WLE & ALND 13th Jan, 1LN effected. I am for certain ready for chemo, just packing a bag. I have PH neutral conditioner, a towelling headband, warm clothes, nibbles, water, book, phone charger & a husband. Have I missed anything ? I have teased hubbie it may be like labour, would you get me this ? Would you get me that ? Bless him.
Keep going, we can do this x

Thanks for all the suggestions ladies (Wyn, alice45, tfitz) - three words, ‘hurrah for Senakot’
Hope you all managed to enjoy a bit of spring sunshine yesterday, certainly lifts the spirits. Got my wig choice down to 3, just seeing if they can get one ordered in the right colour this week. Tfitz, love that you’ve named your wig - def going to do this, will give a suitable name some thought (don’t think I could carry off ‘Beyoncé’, however much I’d love to!).

Hello
Feeling really low today, been tearful all afternoon. I started a period yesterday which is strange as I am also on zoladex. I called the oncology team and breast care nurse and neither reassured me that it is ok. I had a 2 month break from the zoladex in Jan and Feb when I had fertility treatment so maybe it is cos I am back on it, and the chemo of course, though I thought chemo stopped periods …also really hungry for junk food. Had no anti sickness today and have been ok on that front. I hope you are all doing well. Best wishes x

Hi all, hope you are all feeling well. Kirstykat, I hope you are feeling much better today. Rosie112 and Roxy66 I hope your first sessions go well; I had my first session last Wednesday and it went so much better than I expected. The nurses were lovely and really helped me feel at ease.
I am still taking anti sickness tablets, I was given a back up supply and figured if I was feeling nauseous when taking the stronger tablets then I might as well continue to take the back up supply. I felt really exhausted the past few days and i’m getting random stomach cramps ( I have been getting these since last week) but otherwise ok.
Missy12, I am having the injection the day after chemo.

hi ladies hope you are all well. roseberry I started injecting myself on.sat day 5, my last injection tmrw. like u having cramps in my stomach now and again. did also have heartburn but this has now stopped. onward and upwards for next few days, just eating lots of fruit as and when I can. for all ladies having first chemo, please do not stress yourselves it will be fine, if you have side effects just contact your gp or chemo ward xx

debs you will be ok, I had my.first cycle last tuesday, a week ago and I am fine now. yes I was sick on tuesday and went back to hospital same day but with correct anti sickness medication you will be ok. try and eat well between now and 21st. have u already had your operation?

Good evening all, I today had first FEC and coldcap, so far so good. Little waves of nausea so keeping up the anti sickness tabs at home. Even managed a small dinner. Let’s see how the next 24 hours go.
