Hi ladies
Well wig shopping went well have a real hair wig that is gonna look just like my real hair, same colour style everything. Ladies in shop were fab.
Off to bed now as I have appointment in morn for my pre chemo meeting.
Tiny1 x
scissors and Dizzy hope your both feeling better now.
Tiny glad you got your wig sorted out… i have spent today trying on scarves, hats buffs and my wig from last time… dont really think it suits me and doesnt fit so well so may get another one but will just see how it goes… good luck on fri.
joy the epirubicin can cause bladder symptoms… just drink plenty fluids and try to eat a healthy diet… very hard to do when you feel like crap! dont take paracetamol, but do check your temp regularly and if you start to feel unwell at all call the unit immediately… if you feel feverish or flulike or like you have a chill.
clare thanks and sorry you had such a hoorrible experience i had a similar experience when i had my first lot of radiotherpay tatoos done i complained to my BCN that it felt like i was treated like a piece of meat she reported it to the department so they could improve their system, when i had them done on the other side 3 years later they could have been nicer… if you are her2 pos you will need regular scan so might be worthwhile to see your BCN and see if it could be made better somehow.
OSJL… im joining you with my first chemo tomorrow at 9am… i think you meant that your tumour was an IDC not DCIS as you wouldnt normally have DCIS classified as grade 2 but would be low, intermediate or high… also if it was DCIS you wouldnt normally get your nodes tested as it wouldnt have travelled there because its non-invasive, they also dont usually check HER2 status for DCIS and you wouldnt get chemo for DCIS… however many IDCs have DCIS too… both my breast tumours did.
Lizzy hope your feeling better now after your fertility treatment.
KTF did you shave your hair off yet?

Hi Clare
Sorry to hear about your heart scan experience, not nice at all, I’m kind of getting used to getting my boobs out and being poked and prodded, wouldn’t like a creepy man doing it, think I would have to say something!
Just thought I’d let you know that I’m in the November ladies group as my chemo should start mid November, I’m about 3 weeks behind you I think. I think we sometimes kid ourselves about being strong when putting on a brave front, the trauma of it all comes back and bites you on the bum when reality kicks in - for example when you face having to cut your hair off at the weekend - I will be doing this in about 3 weeks, guess it should be least of our worries, main priority is to get through this as best we can.
Sorry for butting in to the October group, just wondering how everybody is doing.
Best wishes
Daysie x
Hi everyone,
Dizzy, i posted a long post in response to your post about your daughter dizzy, but it got lost somehow. It was really a moan about how awful lots of my friends kids are so it’s probably not a loss! I don’t have children so I have a fairly mary poplins approach - they should behave themselves and rudeness should not be tolerated! Poor you, perhaps if she went with you to appointments and saw what it’s like for you, she may have more compassion? And how horrible for you to have your seroma burst, I had the same thing but the seroma ws in my breast which is why I had to have the tissue expand out eventually. It’s really horrible isn’t it? Finally after the tissue expander was removed and so everything healed and I could start chemo, but it was delayed for two months which was very frustrating.
Ive felt very tired for the last few days - had my first FEC last Friday. Not really felt sick though thank goodness. Had the cold cap and not really lost any hair yet I don’t think, but about to wash it for the second time and I don’t really brush it much. It’s not looking it’s best I must say!
Clare, how horrible to be manhandled, literally, by a creepy man! As if you don’t have to put up with enough. There are some people that you just don’t want them to touch you don’t you?
Simone - are you ok? You’ve gone very quiet, I hope you 're not feeling too lousy,
Much love to you all
Alison

Hi Guys
Poor you, Clare being manhandled by a creepo Do you have enough energy to put in a complaint?!!
I spent more than 2 hours in oncology yesterday as I had a tummy bug, and my temperature had gone up. Fortunately I am not neutropenic ( the G-CSF must have helped the blood cell counts) so they sent me home! Bit of a pita though as it’s 1/2 hour up to to the onc unit at Cheltenham, hubby took me but then had to come back for the kids, and I was subjected to the life story of the taxi driver on the way back home when I just felt like dozing! Actually he was a sweetie, but I was a bit worried when he said he used to be a pyschic nurse!!! Errr, ok… : What do you say to that?!!
Lulu, no I haven’t shaved the hair yet - was supposed to be yesterday but as I was at the hospital it didn’t happen. I can’t understand why your hair falling out makes your scalp so sore!! My hair is really short, and it still hurts. Hopefully it will get done tonight and then we’ll see if it really does suit me (people say oh, your hair is very short anyway so it will probably suit you being bald… Yeah right !! )Has yours started falling yet Clare?
Hope you are all doing OK with your various problems, I can’t believe it’ll be time for my second chemo next Wednesday, I feel barely recovered from the first one Still, at least I will be a third of the way through!
Hugs to all of you
Teresa x
Thanks peeps, i was just venting really, dont get me wrong he seemed creepy to me and i felt manhandled but im sure he was just doing his job. It didnt upset me enough to complain i just wasnt mentally prepared for that type of…whats the word…intimate procedure??
Anyway im ok now x
Teresa - poor you with the tummy bug and chatty taxi driver! Glad you got to go home though and didnt have to stay in hosp. No my hair hasnt started falling yet but my head is very itchy so its a coming…big shave off saturday, dreading it im expecting leaky eyes again x
Daysie - know what you mean about brave face, we have to plod on though i guess, best of luck for your november start, hope all your se’s are titchy x
Lulu - not sure about her2, im oestregon positive is that the same? i will be on tamoxifen for 5 yrs after rads. Yes i have been told i will need them regularly but i will be more mentally prepared next time. Will be thinking of you tomorrow x
Sissors - sorry you feeling horrid, hope the injection did the trick with the sickness, hope you feeling a bit better x
I was also wondering about Simone?? Hope all is well xxxx
hi just popped in from the september thread to see how you are all doing.
OSJL I live near Sheffield and there are two wig places on glossop road just by the haLlamshire, one is called Trends I think the other one is millers. I have also been told that there is a very good wig stall at Crystal Peaks and that the man is very helpful.
I bought a wig and was really happy with it but since losing my hair have never worn it as I feel self conscious and think I look like a woman in a wig!! I am much happier in scarfs and hats.
Good luck to you all
I have my 4th FEC next week and on the whole have not been to bad the worst bit for me is the foul taste that has put me off so much food and drink.
Cyber hugs to everyone

Good luck Tiny1, let us know how you go on.
I’ve just bitten the bullet and got the head shaved by the hubby - there’s still some bristle, but it’s certainly a lot more comfortable - think it will take some gettign used to but it’s not so bad…
Hope everyone else is doing OK - look forward to hearing news!
Good morning ladies ,
Keepthefaith
When did you have your first chemo ? I had mine on the 10th and my head is driving me mad washed it this morning which was a bad idea cried all the way through my shower as it was so painful and so much came out . How long did you wait before you shaved it off.
I really don’t know what to do my partner says to shave it off but I am scared to do it too soon, really do not wont to be a baldy but know it is coming .
Can anyone advise Jax x
Hello Jax
I’m sure some of the users will be along to support you soon. Whilst you wait maybe you would like to talk things through with a member of our helpline staff who are there to offer emotional support as well as practical information.
The free phone number is 0808 800 600 and the lines are open Monday to Friday 9.00 to 5.00 and Saturday 9.00 to 2.00.
Best wishes

Hi Jax
I had mine on 12th, so very close to you - I just thought it was really sore, and was coming out anyway ( I waited 2 days before I’d had enough of it!!)- and to be honest, it is a way of ME being in control not the cancer!! So off it went last night, number 0 on the clippers so it’s still about 3mm long. Went out for the first time today with my scarf on, just a walk around the block. may be brave enough to try going into town tomorrow.
I feel for you, it’s not nice but it’s going to happen anyway, why be uncomfortable. Hoe you feel able to make decision soon. Let me know how you get on
Teresa xxxx
P.S. Did not cry as the kids were there for the ceremonial shaving!!
Keepthefaith
Teressa , thanks for that can I ask was your hair very long before and is that how your hair looks now with a number 1 ? ( in the picture I see now ) regards Jax x
June BBC
That telephone number does not work
Jax x
Sorry Jaxs I missed a zero off, it should be 0808 800 6000.
best wishes June
No!! That is my normal hair, it is only 3mm long with a number 0. I have quite a short crop usually, so maybe not as bad a thing for me as someone with longer hair. Is yours long? I think that would be harder
Tx
Hi Teressa,
It is shoulder length well whats left of it.
I really don’t know what to do , think I will have to try and make a decision this weekend.
