Starting Chemo on 29th March

I met with my Oncologist yesterday and I am starting 3 cycles of FEC on 29th March.  He said because of my age (59) and the fact that I am fit and healthy he would recmmend that the FEC is followed up by 12 cycles of Paclitaxel (Taxol).  I would need to have one dose every week for 12 weeks.  He says I would probably be able to work two or three days a week during this time.  Has anyone has experience of this drug? I then need 18 cycles of Herceptin, one every three weeks for a year because I had HER2 cancer.  Again has anyone had experience of this?  Will I be able to work.  From the leaflet he gave me the SE’s look similar to chemo.

Whilst on FEC  I am going to get an injection to boost my white cells.  He said I have to give myself some injections not sre if that is for the white cells or the Herceptin.   Any help or advice would be grateful.

Hi Maureen, I can only help with the FEC cycles because after that I’m having 3 cycles of T (docetaxol)
I have 7 injections starting on day 3 which my husband gives me because there’s no way I could do them myself. If he wasn’t prepared to do them then I would have had a district nurse cone each day - bit that can restrict what you do each day as you’d have to wait in,
The injections are to boost your immune system in the days when it is at its lowest. As I’ve said, I have 7, but others on here have 10 or 5 or just the one! I don’t know why!
I won’t be having herceptin myself, but from what I gather it’s an injection that is given at the hospital every 3 weeks.
I hope this is helpful xxx
