I just wondered if there was anyone starting their treatment next week at all as it might be worthwhile sharing the experience with a bunch of support going through the same thing at the same time?
Hi I’m waiting for a start date for my fec t same as you I’ve had onc app last week think I may be starting following week to you! I think I’m having 4 fec then 2 t wish I could just get started as I’m getting sick of being off work, I am 5 weeks post op now, but been off for 8 weeks due to stress at the beginning, I work in a very nice but very busy care home! So yeah we definitely will be having it more or less same time!
I’m starting the same on Monday 26th…had a few rears this morning but I’m trying to prepare had my hair cut short couple of weeks ago …how you holding up ? X
I’m due to start treatment on Monday too but it’s 6 rounds of EC for me. You might want to consider joining the June starters monthly thread as there is a lovely supportive group of women there who will be just a couple of weeks ahead of you and can give you some top tips.
I have my pre assessment appointment at the hospital this morning. Going on my own and pretty scared but weirdly keen to get it under way now. I’ve also been off work for ages and ages due to surgery/stress etc. So keen to get things moving.
I’m starting chemo on Tuesday next week FEC x3 then T x 3.
Just off for my pre-chemo bloods this afternoon and then to hairdressers to have my long hair cut short so just hoping I manage to keep it together but not sure that I will
Ooh haven’t had the bottle for the haircut bit, I’m cool capping so I thought I’d see how I get on with it first! I wish I had a start date this waiting around is doing my head in, it will be 6 weeks post surgery next Thursday!! They know what they’re doing but just keen to get things going the more time I have on my hands makes me more anxious x good luck ladies for next Monday I’ll follow your posts x
Thanks, Mishy18. Just sitting around waiting for my appointment at 12.30. Part terrified: part keen to get going. Louise, hope you’re doing OK. Shall we compare notes later?? X
I’ll let you know how the cold capping goes. I’m sitting here is a boiling hot conservatory with a hot water bottle on my damaged back - might. It get through the first five minutes! I’m a total wuss with the cold!
Isn’t it the waiting around that gets you!! I never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d be raring to go to have bloody chemo haha!!! I’m sure you will be fine!! Hey Louise hope you get on OK too today… Got my hair dresser on standby!!! This is a summer we definitely won’t forget xx take care
I know exactly how you feel mishy. I can’t wait to just get started. Every day I just feel like I’m wasting days when I could be fighting any potential stray cells.
My op was may 2 and my first chemo isn’t until July 4. It can’t come quick enough. 4 x fec then 2 x T. Bring it on.
I’m Sam as you four fec two times, I think it’s probably then when I start x I know how you feel bout the stray cells looks like us lot on here will be chemo buddies x

I’m back!! Apart from a little quiet sob in the waiting room before I started, it all went well. The cold cap stayed on the whole time - I even impressed myself. The first 15 minutes are really not great but I used meditation and a bit of encouragement from my husband to get me through. Once you’ve gone through the 15 minute barrier it’s pretty plain sailing. Leave your mirrors at home though! Not the most glamorous head gear I’ve ever worn!
I’m tired and a bit spaced out but nothing else to report apart from relief that it’s started and the first one is out of the way.
Well done Ali pleased to see you got through today hope you are feeling OK xx is the EC the same as FEC with the four taken out? I know everyone is slightly different in terms of drugs given I’m sure he told me it will be 3 or 4 fec then 2 or 3 of T x
You might be right about FEC meaning four EC. I just asssumed the F was another drug. Doh!
if I were you ladies, I’d wait until the July monthly starters thread starts up - or start it yourself if you can. That way anyone else who begins in July can easily find you and join in. On our June thread we get new starters every week and also some ladies that just join in later when they have the courage. It’s useful to know where exactly on the forum to go and also you’ll find people from other months pop in to say hi and offer support too.
I cant quite believe my first one is over and I’m sitting up in bed dishing out instructions to family before they go off to school/work! I don’t feel too bad - no nausea, bit tired, legs achey, in need of rest but nothing more than a night on the tiles would induce. Hope that gives some of you waiting to start a bit of hope that whilst it’s not pleasant, it’s doable.
So glad you don’t feel too bad Ali x pleased you got through it x feel the fear we will start a July thread eh whoever starts first, also I found my my chemo drug info in my pack following onc app last night it explains their are 4 drugs in the Fec T so you should ask for one if you haven’t got one it tells you what each drug is for and how it is administered xx hope that might help xx hope you feel a little better later Ali x
