Hi
I start my FEC-T on Friday 30 June. Happy to join your buddy group. I was thinking I’m all alone starting this week. I feel too late for the June starters!
Hi. I’m starting FEC-TH tomorrow at 3.30?? I’m HER2+ so have herceptin added on the 5th cycle. Had my hair cropped today and nails painted black in the hood that it prevent damage/loss. I’m dreading this next stage. Had a lumpectomy in March then wide cavity shave to remove rest of 44mm tumour in April and diagnosis was Jan so this has been a long 6 months. The wait for chemo has been a rollercoaster. Wishing everyone luck for the late June/July group.
I hope all goes well for you Caroline. Let us know how you get on. My bc nurse says expectations of how horrible chemo will be are often worse than the reality, and that a lot of how well we cope is down to strength of mind. I’m choosing to believe her. I’m furious with cancer and can’t wait to kick its ***
Just for reassurance, I had first session Monday and today I managed to spring out of bed when I realised I hadn’t woken my daughter up for school. I helped her get up and dressed, sorted out some washing, answered a couple of texts, had a bit of a heart to heart with my husband and waved them both off to work/school. I am still functioning! (might have to spend the rest of the day on the sofa though!) x
Thanks for the update Ali, that’s really good to hear. If it’s just back to back ‘come dine with me’ I have to cope with, I’ll be extremely happy. ? ?
Hi… I had my first of 3 FEC on 22nd June. 1st 3 days felt fine, just a bit of indigestion and no appetite. Day 4 felt really tired…then days 5 and 6 were the worst. Really bad headache and nauseous and no energy at all. However today so much better and fingers crossed passed the worst…anyone else got similar symptoms? Think it helps talking to people at the same stage.
Thanks for the update Caroline. Glad to hear it wasn’t too bad apart from the sickness. My oncologist says you’re more likely to suffer badly from the sickness if you had morning sickness during pregnancy or if you suffer travel sickness. I really hope she’s right because I’ve never suffered from these. I can handle pain but I’m an absolute wimp with sickness.
Sorry to hear your friend had a reaction. Pleased she’s now okay, but it does sound scary.
Also thanks for your update glamkaz. Hoping you’re over the worst of it now. I’m trying to convince myself I’m going to be one of those extremely lucky people who have hardly any side effects. ??
Hi all. I had my first FEC yesterday. I’m her2 + so my treatment will be 3 x FEC and then 3 x TAX and then on my 4th one I had 17 Herception. My first time didn’t go great.to start… I planned to cold cap it but didn’t last very long probably about 3 minutes. I was nervous and anxious anyway as my friend let me down and I couldn’t get anyone to go with me last minute! When they took the cold cap off I was still pretty cold and they put the cannula in… I started to feel woozy and clammy and I then passed out! Think it was a mixture of nerves and the freezing of the cold cap that got me! Apart from that the drugs going in was okay! I took about 2 hours and I was done! I felt very tired and fuzzy head (bit like a hangout setting in) and I haven’t slept properly. I’m currently in bed at the moment just having some rest time so when it does it me (if it does) I’ll be prepared! I’d love to join a buddy club if there is one going xxx
Hi queenbee. I’ve joined the July starters group.
Sounds like you had an eventful time yesterday. At least next time you’ll know what to expect so may not be as anxious. Maybe you can try the cold cap next time? What a shame your friend let you down. I’d be even more nervous if I had to go alone. Hubby thought he was going to drop me off and pick me up afterwards. He’s got no chance.
Hi Caroline. I usually have my nails gel painted at the beautician’s. I’ve still gone ahead and had them done last week. A very dark brown colour. My bc nurse says because they’re my own nails, as long as I’m sensible and as long as they’re still in good condition I can continue to have them done throughout treatment. Fingers crossed. I also had blading done on my eyebrows. I love them. The beautician gave me £100 off because I’m going through treatment. My first fec is this Tuesday. X
Hi, I am new here and start my FEC Chemo next Friday. Scared and worried about side effects but just want to get in with it x
Hi doggymum. My first session is Tuesday. We will be fine. Our count down to the end of this horrible episode is nearly here. Bring it on. There’s now a July starters group to join.
Angela x
Great to hear you’re coping okay sunshine. My first fec is Tuesday. I’ve had my eyebrows bladed, but in the past I used the benefit natural brows kit. For eye lashes, eyelure are really easy to apply and look very natural. X
Sunshine, If you haven’t already joined, there is now a July starters group. I know your first chemo was in June, but you’re only a few days behind us July starters now.
It’s on July 17 Caroline I start Fec T on 10th!!!
Hi Annie. Thanks for the advice. Nobody has advised me on anything really. I have an appointment to look around the chemo ward on Monday. Maybe, I’ll find out more then. Fingers crossed I won’t lose all of my lashes. If I do, Ill be taking my chances with the false ones when I leave the house.
Caroline, it sounds like you had quite a night. I hope the pain settled.
Good you managed to get some sleep Caroline. Thanks for all of the tips. I did try the aluminium free deodorant but I found it didn’t work very well. I’ll look into the holland and barratte range. Didn’t even know they did anything like that.
My aunt was her2 +. She’s 15 years clear. X
P.s. For anyone who hasn’t managed to get a thermometer yet, I got a great ear one from Argos for 15.99. Much cheaper than boots etc for the same quality. Very easy to use.
I got the Biosen roll on t b h I don’t think it’s much cop I used to use Mitcham it’s not a patch on that!! Not in the summer!! I had op 18th May and started to get nerve pain where they removed some of my lymph nodes from has anyone else had this problem?
I had all of my lymphs out. No nerve pain, just weird. The back of my arm gets really cold and ligaments really pull sometimes. Not particularly painful, not nice though. Gives the same horrible feeling of nails down a blackboard. ?
Just a tingling starts then a stabbing sensation then it stops its not too painful more uncomfortable and a weird sensation x yours sounds worse I only had six nodes out it might be due to healing I had the tendon thin a few weeks back but seems OK apart from when I use my arm alot then it’s starts to ache a bit but again not painful x
