I am sooo upset…!
I have had an ongoing claim for ESA going since last Sept when I had first op. They rejected it due to insufficient NI contribs…I was puzzled as I have always paid what I was told to…
So further phonecalls in last several weeks results in today being told in a nutshell that from 2007-2008 I was issued with a small earnings exemption certificate…so my national insurance direct debits stopped, but they started again in 2008 - 2009 tax year and have been paid ever since…3 years worth (not including all the contributions before 2007-8)
Result? As ESA is based on NI paid in 2007-2008 I am not entitled to anything at all…but I can go and see my citizens advice beaurau and get them to make a case and appeal…I am too knackered and feel too ill to go through all that malarky…
Oh and to add insult to injury, because all my contributions were up to date before 07-08 and since I could have got ESA if I’d had cancer a year ago or in a years time but not now!!!
What the f##k is going on with the world!
Aargh… LiF that’s ridiculous!! Why on earth do they have to go back three years?? Surely it should be what you’ve paid over last year?? That’s appalling. Any benefit should really be based on what you’ve paid in your working life overall… well, at least I know there’s no point in me even trying to claim - I didn’t go back to work after smaller two until beginning of 2009 - so I wouldn’t be entitled to anything after ssp finishes anyhow. One lot less of forms to fill in, I suppose…
Polly - I’m also having mx (with immediate recon) after chemo and last time I asked the chemo nurse about the timescale - she said about four weeks after last chemo. I’m seeing the onc on Monday before the dreaded TAX1 so will ask her too
LiF - what a load of cojones…
Lif - that is ridiculous. ‘bluddy beurocracy’ to quote you. Bad enough to feel rotten and try to hold your business together. There just isn’t the energy left to fight these things.
Bacca - house will be immaculate! Maybe I will finally get those photos sorted. Will be going into work some of the time - not too much though. going to see The King’s Speech this afternoon - lots of people have told me how good it is.
Stella xx

House cleaning??? What’s that? It certainly ain’t the thing I am rushing to do now that I’m beginning to feel human again.Spring cleaning can wait till 2012 I very much think… On the other hand a nice walk in the sunshine really appeals. In fact I have just come back from one. I should hire a dog from someone to give me the excuse to get out three times a day…
Only prob with sunshine is that you can see all the smudged windows and the dust which has settled very nicely on all the furniture. Oh well! All the more reasons to get the hell out of the house.
LIF, sorry to hear about the ESA malarkey. I am not quite sure whether anyone who has paid NI contributions can claim it or not. Can anybody enlighten me here, please? I have gone to half pay now but I don’t know whether I am entitled to anything on top of that.
I am also going to see the King’s speech tonight, Stella. Everybody who has gone is raving about it. It MUST be good.
Re: MILs woes. There should be a programme on the lines of Wife swap. I reckon it would be even funnier!! We should suggest it to Channel 4…ha ha.
Hi everyone,
Felt v.proud of myself yesterday evening as having had my weekly tax still managed to go to meeting at my sons school. Just about got there in time and plonked myself in the nearest chair only to discover that it hadn’t been taken as it was right next to the person taking the meeting so I spent the rest of the time being paranoid that everyone was looking at me with Marjorie on, especially when I had a bit of a hot flush and went bright red, couldn’t take cardy off as I’d dispensed with the bra earlier on as too uncomfortable! Subsequently I got home having not listened to what was said so could have saved myself the effort! Oh well!
Made the mistake of reading some posts about women with secondaries and felt very down last night. Think OH’s getting a bit exasperated.
LIF - that’s rubbish…you’d surely win an appeal if you could face it.
Angie - well done with the c-c - I’d definately continue. (I was like Lulu, didn’t work for me)
Kimmie - well done! Wondered where you’d been. V.jealous!
Stella - shame about the mix up…still next wk will be here soon enough.
little angel - although I’m having weekly tax it works out the same as 4 3-weeklys, like you.
LiF - that sounds like beaurocracy at it’s worst, the govt wonder why small enterprise struggles and it is because of form filling and these ‘quirks’ in the system! Hope CAB can sort it for you when you get the energy.
Kimmie - well done on finishing!! Can you see the end of the pink road? xx
Kaz - lol very funny story.
On the subject of stories, I can’t confess this to my OH yet, it’s too funny/embarassing…I went down to the shops after Taxol 2 on Tues, by the time I got down there had forgotten what I needed (chemo brain requires written lists), so I went over and hugged what I thought was OH in his usual brown jacket…turned out it was a complete stranger! Poor man got the shock of his life. And to make matters worse, my OH wasn’t even with me, he was at work, but I was so dazed I didn’t realise! Had to get a friend to come pick me up and drive my car home as thought it wasn’t safe…lol.
The king’s speech is excellent, although I did have a 5 min power nap half way through due to the glass of wine consumed beforehand
Cat, even in my post chemo daze days I never cuddled strange men…LOL
That made me laugh…I wonder what he will have told his mates. “You’ll never guess what? This bald bird in the shop pounced on me today and hugged me from behind …!” ha ha
Hard to believe,eh?
All of a sudden buying same things twice and leaving credit cards behind pales into insignificance.
Lulu X
I’ll post my yesterday story on PP…it’s almost as bad as CM’s. In better times we’d both have had an answer: you could have tried a National Hug Day and I chose you…I was dumbstruck (never happened be4).
LIF, not surprised…we got no agric payments at all here when the scheme changed because we hadn’t grabbed the sheep payment thingy the second we moved. As many holes as a flippin sieve to crawl out of paying anything.
Lulu…you’re right about the windows/dust. I never do Spring cleaning, it’s random winter cleaning when the sun shines…as in the days you ought to be out. Another thing to change.
The lady at the NI office was really helpful…2 hours later and bang the man from job centre plus lot rings to say all sorted £1400 back payments in your account tomorrow…could not believe my ears…!!!
So anyone…if you have paid class 2 or 3 NI contribs get on the phone to the ESA lot and clain. There are 2 types of ESA one is if you have contributed based on NI contributions and one is income based.
From my exhausting searches today and v long phone calls and arguements with officials I think anyone who is or has been working could possibly get it…but you may have to be prepared for rebuffs and down right rude people on phones!
Thanks for the messages. Have radio next then herceptin so still a way to go on my journey but another big tick in the box for chemo finished. You will all be crossing that finishing line quicker than you think. Big hug kim xx
Kimmie - its great you have finished chemo. I cannot wait for that day. 2 more to go
Stella - shame you have to wait another week but you should feel good and it will give you time to recuperate a little more.
Little angel - hope all went well today
I was told this week that I may need daily injections for next 6 months for my blocked vein caused by the chemo lines so the district nurse taught me todo the injections myself (yesterday and today) - so no more waiting for a district nurse to pop in everyday. Scary at first but we will see how it goes.
Hi Pinkies cat what do we say about talking to strange men let alone hugging them from behind ha ha hopefully if you bump into him again you’ll have hair and he wont recognise you ( or you could always get another marjorie in a different colour ha ha x
Kaz -hope to day went well youre nearly there chick xx also everyone else who had treatment this week . big hugs xxx
LIF RESULT im so pleased for you seemed very unfair not to be able to get it when you paid all those contributions this year and last maybe you can come retail shopping with me xx
Thanks for all the messages about polkerface i think it was the threat of setting you lot of pinkies on her that made her jump ship.
ive been really into making lovely homemade soups from weight watchers cook book they are really easy and tasty and im addicted to broccolli and stilton and tomato, basil and garlic mmmmnn trying to get my 5 a day in but i really dont think you meant to have it with a whole french stick dipped in .well catch up soon xxx take care my lovley pinkies xxxxxxx
well done lif, result, shops awaiting!! proves you if at first you dont succeed. ect ect
cookie, hahah that made me spit water everywhere lol
well, ive two bits of info, 4th fec today, bloods were low so re done today, 3 attempts to get blood. used my right node removed arm. was fine. was wel worried at he thought they would delay to monday. got to start daily white blood cell booster injections from sunday. and they will make bones ache. any thoughts girls??
mom had mx at start of 2010 , grade one no nodes so no cemo. camera in her bladder yesterday due to pains, bladder cancer. no linked to breast cancer. to say she is in shock is an understatment. she goes back tuesday for plan of action… this is tuff and unfair at times.
I’m so sorry to hear of your moms news, life is just so unfair isn’t it?
With regard to the jabs, I have the neulasta jab a day after chemo it does make my chest ache a bit but I just take a couple of painkillers which work fine…
Hi all
so many posts I can’t keep up with all so big hugs to all.
Kaz so sorry to hear about your mum. Was just thinking how far you are having had number 4.
ESA sounds a pain glad all sorted lif.
Can’t believe people are finishing or onto no 4 or more. Who would have thought! Any one discussed reconstruction after rads?
On a lighter note I am off to Towcester races Sunday and just wondered if there are any horse goers with any tips !
Perhaps I can place a bet for us all!
