Starting TC chemo mid April , Advice and support needed

@buddies I feel so sad for you as I totally know how you feel, the bone pain can be horrific and the mouth issues too  I promise when it’s all over - and you will get through it - you will be amazed at how you managed it all and better times are ahead!

How is your hair? I felt such relief when I shaved it off after it started falling out (I had it cut short at the start of chemo ahead of then). The pain and discomfort went. It’s now trying to grow back but is very sparse and fluffy!

I’m still working my way through the side effects - it’s almost 8 weeks since I finished the last cycle - but it does get better. Radiotherapy was honestly nothing compared to chemo, I’ve just finished my 20 rounds of it. The time flies too! x

@anncuk my hairs holding out, but scalp very itchy and dry, think I’m on top of bone pain as I’m now taking both paracetamol and ibuprofen which is keeping it bare able. It’s my mouth, currently sat in A&E as I rang the onc helpline and it went through to 111 and they’ve sent me here - I think it’s thrush in my mouth!

@buddies Oh no! What did the hospital say? Hope you’re doing ok! x

@anncuk hey lovely, improving today. A&E we’re so good had my bloods done and full assessment, I was there 6 hours but reassured my bloods were good and body fighting infection, definitely a viral infection on top of chemo, and oral mouth thrush! Given Nystatin and difflam, which has really helped…..and they advised me with my bone pain too.

My chemo nurse phoned yesterday and she’s going to speak with my oncologist before I see him tomorrow regarding how I’ve been, she thinks he may reduce my dosage slightly and change my bone injections…so I’ll see…but I know I’m being looked after, everyone has been fab!

hope your ok, thank you for keeping in touch xx

Hey @buddies I’m about to start a similar second journey with chemo like you. I had TNBC in 2010 when I was 36. I go today to get results of my lumpectomy and node biopsy which has been other way round for me this time, I had chemo first previously. Hope you’re feeling a bit better. Sending positive energy to you xxx

Hey @round21, lovely to hear from you! And I’m so sorry your back on this path again, it comes as a huge shock again doesn’t it! We’ve done it before and we’ll do it again.

I had my first chemo 11 days ago x

@round21 how did you get on with your results? Xx

@buddies I got the best results I could’ve hoped for, clear margins and negative nodes, tumour was 1.6cm. It’s now changed from TN to HER+

I’m now waiting on letter from oncology to speak about starting chemo. I’m hoping it might not be so aggressive a regime as last time. I was stage. 2 node positive TN last rains and had 3x FEC and 3 x Docetaxol every 3 weeks.

What kind of regime are you having this time? Are you TN again?

Xxx

Hi, that’s really good results, my tumour was TN and 12mm in size, no lymph node involvement and margins clear.

I’m having TC chemotherapy (Docetaxol and Cycophlosomide),with Filgrastin injections after for seven days, had my first on 27th April.

Had a bumpy start, put hopefully over the worst xx

Sending hugs, keep in touch x

@buddies glad to hear you are starting to feel better. How often are you having chemo? Xx

Next

My next cycle is 18th may - every three weeks xx

@buddies how are you feeling now? I’m just behind you then as I met with oncologist for the first time yesterday and to get 4 x TC chemo, radiotherapy then a year of Trastuzumab since I’m her+

They took bloods for genetic testing aswell. It’s the chemo part I’m dreading the most.

Hopefully your next cycle isn’t too tough on you.

We can do this… again! Xx

Hi lovely,

I’m loads better and have had an almost normal week, even managed a gin and tonic!

Hair almost gone now…but it’s a relief as it’s another hurdle jumped over!

Off for my pre chemo bloods in the morning and hopefully round 2 on Monday!

How are you? X

I’ve done genetic testing twice…and don’t have a faulty gene x

@buddies great to hear you have had a good week and there is some normality between cycles!

I’m just waiting patiently on a date to start my chemo. I’ve to go for a full body scan on Wednesday.

I’m hoping I don’t have a faulty gene either and it’s just been a case of bad luck again. I don’t want my teenage daughters to have to worry about getting this in the future.

Have a lovely weekend and hope it all goes well on Monday.

Keep me posted on how you’re doing :pink_heart::two_hearts:
