Hi
So i was diagnosed with primary BC in June, a week later i had an interview for a psychology training programme, amazingly they offered it to me. I was hopeful that my surgery would be out of the way before the course and placements start in oct, unfortunately that hasnt happened.
I am due to have mastectomy with immediate implant reconstruction on the 20th sept. Which means 2 weeks after id need to start 3 days uni and 2 days placement. Because of how it works i cant just do the uni or placement, its all or nothing and i need 90% attendance to pass. I will be having radiotherapy after surgery as well.
They contacted me yesterday to say they suggest i withdraw because they are worried i won’t manage and it will impact my treatment due to the pressure. Im not able to defer because funding isnt in place for next year yet but they said i could just reapply next year or for a similar course that starts in the spring but no guarantee id get it.
Im the type of person that needs something positive to focus on and this has been an aim for years so i dont want to throw it away but would i be stupid to think i could manage 5 day weeks with studying and travel less than 2 weeks after a mastectomy and through radiotherapy??
