Hi, I’ve been looking through posts to try to get an answer but I only end up more confused. Can anyone tell me how long it takes the steroids to get out of the system? I’m 3 weeks post my last chemo and I’m still red-faced, swollen and miserable. I’m drinking loads, and even have diuretics from my doc (for blood pressure) but nothing seems to work. I seem to hold a lot of water around the area of my scars from the bilateral mastectomy I had in Sept. It makes it really tight around my chest.
Sorry to just come here and gripe, but I’m at my wit’s end and just need help and advice.

In the meantime maybe you would like to talk things through with a member of our helpline staff who are there to offer emotional support as well as practical information. The free phone number is 0808 800 600 and the lines are open Monday to Friday 9.00 to 5.00 and Saturday 9.00 to 2.00.
I think im pretty lucky with the steroids, soon as day 3 comes along and i stop taking them i spend a lot of time peaing and i lose half a stone. The red face my chemo nurse told me can also be a side effect of tax or herceptin so it is sometimes a job to know what is what. Hopefully you will soon feel better.
