Stopping ovarian suppression after 2 years

Hi all, I’m 45, I was diagnosed with hormone positive breast cancer in 2023. Multifocal, largest tumour 2cm, 2 positive lymph nodes, BRAC2 Positive. Bilateral mastectomy and went on the Optima trial, my genomic testing was low risk so I had radiotherapy but no chemo. Since 2024 I’ve been on tamoxifen and Leuprorelin (ovarian suppression). I will eventually have to have to ovaries out due to being BRAC2, so have always wondered if I might end my OS a bit early to give myself a few more pre menopausal years. Aside from awful hot flushes I’ve tolerated it quite well until now, when I’ve started getting joint pain in my ankles. It’s been two years of a planned five, and I’m considering coming off the OS (staying on tamoxifen). Has anyone else stopped OS early?

Just bumping this as no replies yet!

Hi @sap1981 , sorry you haven’t had a reply from someone in similar circumstances yet . You could also maybe post in the Connect to people like me section of the forum ?

Sounds like you might also need to weigh up the pros and cons for you individually with your breast care team to make an informed decision.

Best wishes Jill
