Stopping treatment

i’m meant to be having my sixth and final taxotere on thursday but just had a call from hospital to say they wont be going ahead, as i am having increasing problems with tinnitus and hearing loss in one ear. i feel i should be pleased but i’m not, just confused. surely it is better to live with ear problems than cancer?

Has anyone else had their treatment stopped early and what did they do? not sure if i should insist on them giving me the last one or not?

Can you ring and speak to your oncologist, so that you know the thinking behind their decision? I like to be involved in the decision-making process and understand all the facts and ramifications.

I would ring and ask to speak to your oncology dept. to see if they can explain their decison to you a little better.
It might be that the final tax is not totally necessary and won’t compromise the treatment you have already had, and if you did have the final one, it may worsen your hearing problem?

Its a shame they called you instead of doing it face to face where they could explain the reasoning. You deserve an explanation.Maybe think it over ,get a list of questions the call and ask if you can speak to someone or make an appt for a discussion. Its all very well them making a decision but they need to explain it to you.
Once we are told our treatment plan we assume anything less is suboptimal (gosh thats a big word for me these days must be my Nintendo brain training!)
Good luck,

Thanks for comments,I have told them my concerns and the nurse is going to speak to consultant. I am hoping they might get consultant to talk to me direct but not expecting it!!! It feels a bit like chineses whispers.
Will keep you posted
