Storm Riders/A Town Called Determination

We have sunshine today after the storms! Hoping this is with you too so that you will be able to do anything outdoor related you had planned.

I’m taking it that grits were not popular - and I’ve heard similarly from a chum in America. But I think to be a genuine storm rider I need to try them once.

No fixed plans for today just will see what I feel like when I open the front door,

Thinking of everyone not in Ashbourne too - Di, Nikki, Sheila and Jacqui- hope you have a happy day.

Morning all …Di, Nikki, Jacq, Victoria, those of us stay at homes… Hope you all had a good weekend. I have been having a post chemo weekend in my pj’s but off to town now to pick up some gifts I ordered and being kept in JL till today…

Hope all the Storm Riders honoured their title this weekend and are now facing clear skies and calm winds!

I have prepared a large pot of virtual yummy home made chicken soup with crusty bread, it will be hot and ready and waiting to warm and cheer you on return after your journeys home. Oh and a nice bottle cooling in the fridge.

So glad you all having fun, cos then there will be another trip!

Safe journey home.

Kettle’s on!

Sheila xx

Home safe after a wonderful weekend with some very special ladies.I dont know where to start-I wish you could see the pics of the gals in the hot tub,Carole’s belly-dance and Rosie’s drumming. Then of course there were Sandra’s amazing scones,Talullah’s costume,Eliza’s cards etc etc.Everyone brought her own magic to the occasion and The bunkhouse was the ‘place to be’ this weekend.
Love The Old One xxx

Home likewise in just under the hour with no further problems.
Best wishes to all the SRs I didn’t meet and many thanks to those I did for a lovely day and a half - I was amazed at the amount of various talents among you, but especially the feeling of being part of a real group.I admit to having had qualms about going, but they were all groundless.
Thanks again everyone, love Ros.
Now for the washing !

Thanks for letting us know, Val & Ros. It is now very quiet in the house!

A fantastic weekend!

Eliza xx

Well what a contrast my journey home was compared to the journey there! Back in 2 hours 20 mins and it took me 3 1/2 hours on Friday!!

What a lovely weekend that was, you are all wonderful women and I loved meeting each and every one of you. Here’s to the canal boats!!!

Gen xxxx

The scone express got me back safely in just under 4 hours ,whooop whoop, what a weekend !

Look forward to doing it all again and meeting up with those that missed out this time.

Hope those left have eaten up ALL the food !

We were a bit extravagant with the champagne in the hot tub but ooooh wasn’t it good, sitting there in the rain, cowboy hats on,quaffing the fizz and trying to prevent Helen from sinking under the bubbles(the ones in the hot tub that is,not the champagne !)

Thank you all for such a good time and special memories, bring on the canal boats for the sequel Storm Riders Afloat…

Sandra x

What a special weekend! It was fantastic to meet you all, my amazing “sisters in arms”. Looking forward to the next one.

I hope you lot are out of the hot tub by now and are tackling that mountain of food! lol

The journey home took 4 1/4 hours, which is much better than the 5 1/2 it took in the rain on Friday. I understand the weather here was awful yesterday, so we had a lucky escape.

I’m knackered now - a long drive after 5 hours sleep is not good, so I’m off for a lie down.

Storm Riders Rule!

Hi all,

This is Rosie posting on behalf of the rearguard still at the bunkhouse. The hot tub gals will probably come in when they smell supper cooking…! Jeeves has been kept very busy delivering beverages (!) but don’t worry, we’re doing our best to finish off the booze and the chocs… hic!

love and hugs,
Rosie
PS - i am exaggerating how long they were in there - it was only three hours, but we did have to entice them out with food.

Hi everyone… i’m home…

the website lied… i got to newcastle and the next train wasn’t until 8.49pm!!! :o so i got a taxi back from newcastle to morpeth…

thanks everyone for such a brilliant weekend…

love theresa x

I’m home, full of whiskey, wine, grits, scones and if that wasn’t enough stopped for Sunday roast on the way. Feeling on top of the world. What an absolutely fantastic bunch of women you all are. I feel like another page in the book has been turned and because of all of you, your spirit and courage, I’m full of optimism for the future.

Hope the S.R that didn’t make it, have had a good weekend and I have changed my pic just to give you a little glimpse of our time together.
Those that are still in Joe’s bar, keep drinking the champagne. I’ll raise my cup of hot chocolate to you and bid you goodnight. Its bed time for me, I’m worn out.

WHEN ARE WE GOING AGAIN??? CAN’T WAIT
xx

Great to see the photo, Jane. Thanks for that.

We are just about to re-heat some chilli …

Defo need another meet before too long!

Thanks, all for posting that you are home safe & sound.

Eliza xx

YEEEHAAA! Gadzooks, and goddarn, but wasn’t that a night in Joes!

The grits were EDIBLE!!! Just 'cos you’re all a bunch of damp coyotes with no growl… :DD

Steel, reporting back to the bunkhouse, bit the worse for the wear, but aww shucks that was a dang glorious adventure! Hic!

What can I say, bring it on!!! Next one is even more of a doozy.

All Storm Riders on a sabbatical for that there soujourn to Normality, watch for the pony express over the next week or so. Deliveries to come. And there are a heck zang of a lot of photos to forward.

So… next one is the the gangsters and their mols making a quick escape across the waterways to the big ocean? That’ll make a lot more sense to the absent SRs once I post my next piccie.

Hello girls,

Just got back, We stopped to see a friend on the way so the journey didnt really take that long…

Anyway thanks to one and all for a fun and memorable weekend.
Enjoy the chilli girls and raise a glass for me.

All the best
Linda

i’m adding piccies on my facebook page… don’t worry there are photos of people in the hot tub - but not getting in… and i’ve set the album up so only people on my storm riders friends list can see any of the piccies…

theresa

Hope I don’t scare the absent Storm Riders from the weekend but you do know that you will have to have the obligatory tattoo … we are a talented bunch, bet you didn’t know that we had a tattoo artist in our numbers.Don’t worry it doesn’t hurt tooooooooo much ! OWWWWWWWWWWWW !
I’m having champagne withdrawl symptoms !

Sandra x

Yo, Scotia, Go! Great Idea!. Here’s Steel’s tattoo with Runner, her horse, sitting just to the right on her talisman chain.

Oh, and I decided to help with the champagne withdrawal by acquiring a bottle on the way home. Toasts to you all SRs. And could Calam and Tallulah perhaps do a little vocalisation for us to keep the mood going. Way to go Gals, what voices!!!

Those grits were NOT edible!!!

Last of the chili is now gone. Fridge nearly empty. Hard jpb, but someone has to do it! We are still enjoying the chocs.

Love to all,
Clare, Mary, Rosie, Lizzie, Helen & Eliza xx

Aww, c’mon, I grant you the breakfast grits were pretty rough, but Steel did a decent cheese and garlic version - don’t deny it, Steel heard positive grunts from round the bunkhouse on that one.

Yeah, I’ll concede the cheese & garlic was edible!

All still going well here, Carole.
