Hi just wondering once the surgeon has referred you to oncology, how long before you are followed up by the surgeon? I was checked 3 weeks after the surgery and was told next appointment with him would be 12 months. Seems a long time but maybe this is the norm now?
Last time (2004) i was followed up by surgeon at 3 months then 6 months and then onto 12 monthly. Just interested to hear anyones experiences? Ill be seeing oncology so i guess im covered there for any issues arising!
Hi susynight, I had my lumpectomy April 2023. I then saw my surgeon at my 3 week follow up who gave appointment for oncologist for 2 days later. She referred me for radiotherapy. I have never seen either of them again. Have had 2 annual follow ups with breast nurse.

In the UK, the breast care team are available should you have any concerns. So if something doesnt seem right you can give them a call and you can be reviewed by your surgeon.

Once referred to oncology my follow will be one at 6 months and then yearly for 5 years.
