Surgery on Saturday - scared

I was ok in the run up as knew I was in good hands, until the anaesthetist came to see me to ask if I had any questions, I burst into uncontrollable tears, saying I was worried I wouldn’t wake up, it was my 1st general. She was brilliant, told me I shouldn’t be worried, I was otherwise fit and healthy (compared to lots of people she sees). Your feelings are totally normal but you’ll be fine, just make sure you do your exercises afterwards.

Hiya yes know just how you feel,i felt the same when i had my lumpectomy nearly 2 years ago now. All i can say is its soon over and not as bad as we always think its going to be. So keep upbeat if you can and we will all be waiting for your thoughts and we will all be thinking of you. Xx

I have to say i was terrified about not waking up but despite having being told by two gps that it hadn’t spread to my lymph nodes, i was horrified to find that it had! So where is the comfort in the scans then?

Aww that’s totally understandable  your tumour size etc sounds very similar to mine. I had my operation in July and Radiotherapy in September. All has gone really well and I only have a small dent, which I worried about being a lot worse. We often think the worse don’t we xx you will have a nice ice lolly when you wake up and the nurses will be wonderful to you as were the anaesthetists. All the best xx

Hi,I was the same with anaesthetic but the anaesthetist was very calming and I thought of good things as I was drifting off x
