There’s an outside possibility of an infection so please get checked out. Have you taken your temperature?
Morning, has anyone experienced a prickly heat rash as well across the chest, neck, it’s come up overnight. I’m such a mess with at the moment
x
Morning, yes my temperature is normal. I have this prickly heat rash across my chest and neck. I just feel awful
x
Sort you’re not feeling better.
Try and see someone at your doctors today if your breast care nurse can’t help. Or at least ring the nurses on the helpline here or Macmillan.
Do you have paper stitches or a dressing still in place which could cause the rash?id suggest antihistamines but really think you need to see a real person.
Hi, I spoke to both the bcn and day surgical unit yesterday, they weren’t concerned at all, and just said to continue taking paracetamol/ibrupofen. I just don’t know what to do
I’ve just take a antihistamine x
I really hope it eases soon.
Hey @karenh how are you feeling today?
Hi, I’m not great, the hives are still there, across my chest (not boobs), neck, face shoulders and arm. I’m waiting to see my GP. I’m just so down over the burning inside my armpit and now this
x
Hopefully GP can give you something to make you more comfortable x
How are you today? Did you get some help from the GP? x
Hi, yes the Dr checked me over, he thinks the rash is most likely viral or could be a delayed reaction from the surgical scrub they use during surgery, as the rash is around the same side of my surgery. I’m not 100%, but just taking it easy. I also received a call from oncology yesterday, and face an appt to be assessed for radiotherapy, so I’m hoping I won’t need chemo as it was caught early. But have my follow up appt with my consultant next Thursday x
That’s all moving along nicely then. Lots of rest and lots of fluids and don’t forget your exercises as you’ll need your arms above your head for radiotherapy x
I’m doing my exercises but the burning I’m experiencing at the moment limits me, but I will persevere x
What I’m also finding at the moment is whenever I do anything, I am sweating so much, I can’t seem to do a lot. Is that normal? x
It’s your body say stop. You’ve just had surgery. It’s a major thing. Do very little so you body can mend itself x
Ok, I wondered if that was the case. Thank you for everything xx
Slow and steady won the race for me with the arm exercises. There were some of the harder ones I had trouble with even a few weeks post surgery but I just went as far as I felt I could and stopped if it got too much. I was able to go a little further every time and it took easily at least a month to be able to fully do them all but I got there.
And @bluetit11 is spot on. Apart from the exercises, basic hygiene and a couple of family visits over Christmas, I did pretty much nothing for four weeks. I really credit this with making my recovery as smooth as it was.
Take it easy. x
The problem with day surgery is we then think it’s trivial. Surgery is major trauma, you been professionally stabbed under anaesthetic. In the old days you’d have been in hospital for a few weeks but now you get your own bed and decent food.
thank you so much for your kind and supportive words. I really do need to just rest, and listen to my body xx
Hi @karenh just checking in. How are you?
