Hope your surgeries went well and you have a restful evening x
Home now. Surgery went well as she expected. Going back on Friday and hopefully will get resumts after the MDT on Thursday although I was told they will take 10 days as op was on a Friday. I am just taking paracetomol now and seems OK althouhj it feels abit uncomfortable as its begining to wear off. Lovely blue sky in Devon but cold
Hi Linda
So pleased it all went well , just rest drink plenty of water and don’t over do it does take time , weather makes a difference it’s cold but nice to see blue sky . Mine took about 2 weeks plus time for MDT meeting which is Fridays in my trust .
Enjoy the sunshine and take care xx
Hi Linda, seems we are taking the same path! I’m also home now with paracetamol, dont feel too bad and just been out for dog walk with hubby in the lovely sunny Somerset sunshine so not a million miles from Devon. Got a follow up Friday with potential results if MDT have them by Thursday. Take care and glad it went well for you.
love C
All my best wishes, you’ll be fine. Just get plenty of rest afterwards, best excuse you’ll probably ever have for that.
had a lumpectomy last July, but waited a long time for it as have a chronic problem with my bloods and they decided not to behave! As others have said, my lymph node scar was a little painful, advised to keep up with my exercises and then no problem! I couldn’t see how exercises (ie moving around!) would help, but it certainly did. Xx
Are you at Musgrove? I was last time I had bc but have moved since then. I had my ops at the Marsden though last time. That seems quick unless you are private. Luckily I have insurance this time. It’s a mixture of Bristol and Exeter this time. I found out today I will get annual follow ups privately which may even go on longer than 5 years if I still have insurance then.
Hi Linda, I also have insurance via work so I’m at Bristol at The Spire. I had to go the nuclear medicine unit at Southmead first and then go to The Spire for surgery. That’s interesting about your follow ups - I’ll find out whether mine cover follow ups for 5 years.
I’m at the Spre too. I bet you were there when I was on Friday AM. She mentioned Taunton to me but I said I saw someone at Exeter so I wonder if you have the same surgeon as me? One of the nurses said about going to another hospital and I said I hadn’t. She did 3 surgeries on Friday and I think 1 was before mine as I was supposed to go down at 9.10 but it was at least 9.45.
oh that’s amazing - we were there at the same time…I would’ve come and visited you if I’d known haha! I went down about 11:30 as I didn’t arrive there until about 9:30ish as I had to go to Southmead first. My surgeon was Sasi and I know she had a few on her list on Friday. I’m up there again on Friday evening. C xx
You were after me then as my slot was 1.5 hours and I must have come out about then. Yes I’m there in the evening too at 7.20pm.xx
Linda, I’m there at 7! Hopefully we can say hi to each other in the waiting room. It’s a small world isn’t it - and to think I felt so alone in this battle (not that I wish this on anyone of course )
Hi I hope your sugery went well and you have a good recovery. I had mine 15th Jan and recovered well. After further testing i am due for further lymph nodes removing on wednesday as cancer showed up in the lymph nodes i had removed
I know the feeling of waiting its agonising. I wish ypu well and hope everything went well.
Thinking of all of you facing surgey soon. Small steps and be kind and loving to yourselves. Allow yourselves the time you need to heal. Wishing you all the best. X
Hi Cassie
Hope all went well I had my lumpectomy just over a year ago along with lymph node removal so I have 2 scars but am feeling good I have my first mastectomy on the 10/2/25 after removal so that’s on my mind a little but fingers crossed all will be good xx
Good luck for tomorrow - I had the same experience as you, and had my lumpectomy as a day case. The surgery was very straightforward, and I had the lump wound and 2 nodes removed, as a day case, which were clear of cancer. I’m now waiting to see if I need radiotherapy - I suffer from a cardiac arrhythmia, and so have had an ECG and an Echo to check if it’s okay to have the treatment.
Anyway, I feel a bit like a fraud, as I didn’t feel a lump (it was only 6mm) and have never felt ill - but my advice is to take all of the pampering you are offered! x
@cazzie123 as you are close to Bristol, I was wondering if you had heard of the fabulous Penny Brohn charity based in Pill. Loads of online as well as in person services for people with cancer. I’m just over the bridge in Chepstow and go there regularly. @Linda_Corinne it might also be helpful for you when you are in Bristol as well as online
A support group, locally is Bosom Buddies they also have a regular lunch at Penny Brohn. I haven’t joined them yet but hoping to soon.
Hi naughty_boob, yeah I was told about Penny Brohn by my breast care nurse and their online sessions seem really good - I haven’t managed to book one yet but I defo will. I also like the sound of Bosom Buddies but whether I’d manage to get into Bristol regularly I dont know as its about 25miles or so. But all this is good to know as it might be easier when the evenings are lighter in the summer months.
I had a lumpectomy and radiotherapy back in 2007 when things were no where near as good as they are now. It was no problem at all and I was clear for 14 years. I now have a different breast cancer and that is a different story. You must be strong and positive. The C word is nowhere near as bad as it used to be as there are so many treatments. Please live life to the full and make the most of every day without dwelling on what may or may not happen.
