Last month has been a bit of a blur. Easter saturday found a lump and on May 18th after further tests had a full mastectomy and S N . As a healthy 36 year old vegetarianit all came as a bit of a shock. Drain out for a week and this is the first time I’ve been uncomfortable. The swelling is ‘normal’ but just wondered if anyone had any tips for reducing it- trying fresh pineapple and lots of seeds as they have healing properties! Still doing my exercises- but frustrated.

Hi Peckybeak,
I had a lumpectomy in March with aux clearance, the seroma swelling went on for quite a few weeks, with drainage every week. In May l had a mx, having already had the nodes removed l have hardly had any swelling and am healing really well. I did ask the bcn whether anything could be done to hurry the healing or reduce the swelling, sadly she said No, it just has to settle down and find its own way out! but she did say to have salt baths every day, l really think this helped, soaked for about 15mins each morning, so boring, but healthy scar now!
Good Luck

Thanks Sandra,
To make the salt bath effective - how much salt and any particular kind. Only got low sodium in the house!!! Doc didin’t mention seroma swelling so how was that different to your Mx? Only swollen under scar and below armpit.
