I wanted a swim suit and was browsing in good old BHS, they have got a fair few with removable cups, I bought one & if you take the cup out ( which is really jst a bit of stiffening) there is a pocket ready made for a foam swim prosthesis… cossy cost £20 & I didnt have to pay for someone to put a pocket in. Just thought this might be of use to someone else, thye had a fair range of styles & its not a huge branch so guess a city branch would have even more choice
Cheers all

Hi Mand
Had not even thought of that - I bought one from amoena or somewhere like that and paid a lot more than £20 - so thanks for the tip

I also bought a 2 piece from BHS for a lot cheaper than the specialist catalogues. The little hole that I squeeze my prosthetic through is getting a bit worn seeing as that’s not what’s it’s actually there for! I did buy a one piece last year but the top is a bit low so i can’t wear that at the moment. I think it’s so wrong that you can get charged £60 for a ‘special’ swimming costume, it’s such a rip off, and they’re not even that nice!!
It is worth watching out for mastectomy swimwear from companies like Nicola Jane, and Eloise especially during their sales. I have also had some fab ones from Nicola Jane as samples - it is worth a call to them to ask if they still do that. I have just flicked thru Eloise catalogue and the costumes in there are from £26.50, several at £30, £40, £45 and £60. The more expensive ones are lined as well and I found wearing them to the swimming pool a couple of times a week they lasted longer than the cheap ones from BHS, as the tend to be chlorine resistant too.
Hi all
Not really a question about swim suits - but more about holidays in general. i’m lucky enough to be going to Alicante on Thursday - what is the advice about sun on my ‘bad arm’ - I’ve read that I need to keep it covered . I’d like to pick up a little colour if poss but not at the risk of doing myself any harm - advice welcome…

Hi Muddy, I was told to use high factor sun cream, and not to get it burned, I kept in the shade when I went to Cyprus in August it was so hot, but I did get a tan on it, even being careful, be very careful not to get any insect bites !! I wore a compression sleeve on the flight too, but Alicante is not such a long flight
have a loverly holiday
