just looking for some reassurance, I had 2 ops to remove tubular breast cancer in august 2013 and 20 bouts of radiotherapy in october my breast is quite a lot more swollen than my other one but also quite tender if i lean on it or anything like that it is very painful is that normal I am having my first mammogram in august and and worried to death as I think it would be extremely painful and dont think I would be able to endure the pressure is this something I would need to get checked out or is it normal. Jules
I would have thought that the swelling and tenderness would have eased since your operations and radiotherapy. Have you spoken to your BCN or GP about this?
Yes get it checked out before your mamamogram - my swelling was post operative but 8 weeks after surgery, really painful - but i had it checked.
I had tenderness and swelling that came on a good few weeks after finishing radio, my onc and radiologist told me this was normal, 18 months on it’s no longer painful but still as swollen and they’re not concerned.
Perhaps u could call breast care nurse as could be lymphodema . It doesnt just effect the arm but also the breast. Dont suffer in silence. Check it out to be sure…take care…x
