Swollen painful breast a year after treatment ???

Hi all it’s a year since I finished chemo and radiotherapy but recently my breast and underarm ( had auxiliary clearance) is swollen so that you can visually see and is tender to touch went to docs n they hav told me to contact the breast cancer nurses. Has anyone else experienced anything like this my scarring has got harder n not sure what I feel. Will ring tomorrow but would appreciate any experiences good or bad xxxx rozita

Hi there, I’m not yet a yr on from treatment finishing (dec 2010), but my boob is as you’ve described, and I was dx with lymphoedema in April, I’m currently trying the tape to see if it will reduce the swelling. Do contact your BCN, just as a warning I had to have a mammo just to rule any nasties out! And it was quite painful, due to swelling.

Just a bump to see if anyone else has experienced this rang breast care nurse waiting for appointment hopefully wed. But very swollen n painful at Th moment xx. Rozita

Hi Rozita

I found a hardness in my scar a year after finishing treatment.I had WLE and 6 FEC and 20 Rads and 2 boosters. I had to have 6 lymph nodes removed for testing as 8mm of my cancer was grade 3 invasive. Fortunately my nodes wwere clear.

I went and saw surgeon 8 weeks ago and he says I have Fibrosis in my breast which is quite common for a lot of woman. Had an ultrasound and everything is fine also no evidence of disease at first mammogram.

I know my symptoms don’t seem as bad as yours but thought this would maybe give you some reassurance that other people have had the same.
