Hello, everyone I am 21 yrs old and I have been undergoing chemo treatments since March of this year. I go for treatments once every 3wks but I wanted to hear other people experiences because this breast cancer thing is totally new to me. I had my 4th cycle last week so now I’m down to 2 cycles left. I will be done in July. (THANK GOD)
Hi icare, are you having fec? I had my 5th (of 6) on Monday and the SEs have accumulated as i’ve gone on. I have a hangover and nausea for a week and then tiredness and aching from the white blood cell injectionsfor the next week. The third week used to be the good one but i didn’t notice so much of an improvement last time. Roll on the 6th and then radiotherapy.
How about you?
Dawn
No I’m not on fec. I just do the tac and then get my neulasta shot the day after treatment. My 1st treatment was the worst one because I was hospitalized for 3days. So they had to drop my dosage for the tac because it was waaay too much for me. I never had to use the nausea meds they gave me becasue I didn’t experience that side effect at all. It’s a little better now but I have lots of back aches as a side effect I guess.
I never had the surgery because the tumor on my left breast was too big to remove so I was put on chemo 1st then see what happens in July once the cycles are over.
Like I said this is new to me so I just want to hear advice and experiences from you all.

Also what type of meds can be taken for achiness and pain?
Hi Icare
I was diagnosed with lobular breast cancer in Feb 2008 and had a mastectomy and removal of lymph nodes prior to TAC chemo 6 sessions with 3 weeks between treatments.
I was never sick during the treatments but the sides of my mouth used to get so sore.
Found grapefruit every morning helped plus strawberry milk shakes. Weird as I don’t usually drink milk.
Lost all my hair a couple of days before chemo 2.
Had radiotherapy after chemo and finished treatment in Nov 08. Am now on Arimidex tabs for 5 years. 3 years down so 2 more to go.
Had breast reconstruction in March 2010 and am feeling good.
There is light at the end of the tunnel.
Best of luck with the treatment.
Love

Thanks Sue! I’m happy to know you are doing GREAT!
I don’t get sick to much after chemo it’s just I have aches from the neulasta shot and back pains the week after chemo.
Hi again
The neulasta shot did not cause me any problem but I used to have my chemo on a Monday and on the Wednesday at 7 45 ( during Coronation Street) I used to get the most frightening pain at the back of my neck and shoulders. The oncologist told me what tablets to take.
This happened every chemo cycle at exactly the same time. Weird or what.LOL

I took brufen and paracetomol. Had 8 neulasta for fortnightly AC-T. The aches were dire but I got through 7 doses before getting an infection on my 8th so stick with it x
