tamoxifen and appetite
tamoxifen and appetite Has anyone else noticed a big increase in their appetite once taking tamoxifen. I have been on it about a month now and could eat the paint of the walls some days. It is like I just can’t get full. I have been trying to eat lots of fruits and veg but I don’t want to pack on the weight .
Hi I found this during chemo as well as whilst being on Tamoxifen, so it’s now a case of ‘supersize me’ , unfortunately. I’ve only got 9 more months on Tamoxifen, so I’m hoping it will be easier to lose weight next year.
Hi esther Well I’m pleased it’s the tamoxifen I thought I was just turning into a pig. Iv’e been on it now about a month and I can’t stop eating, I have tried just to eat fruit, veg and anything that’s in the fridge, popcorn being a favorite at the moment, thank god it’s not that fattening otherwise I’d be a few sizes bigger by now. i think it’s about time I paid the gym a visit!!.

I’ve been on tamoxifen for 2 months and have n’t had an increase in appetite and have n’t put any weight on. In fact, my appetite the last couple of weeks seems to have gone the other way. I’m having to make myself eat regularly as otherwise I’ll start to lose weight (which I tend to do very easily without trying) and I can’t afford to. This is something that I’ve experienced before so nothing to do with the tamoxifen.
I’m getting some nice muscle definition- don’t know whether this is the tamoxifen or just that I’m back up to speed with my gym sessions.

Hi - what a relief to know that others have noticed a big increase in appetite. I have been on tamoxifen for 4 months now and have put on at least half a stone, which just can’t shift despite joining the gym, swimming 3 - 4 times a week and walking the dogs every day! What a nightmare! I too just cannot stop eating and never ever feel full these days. Am getting quite depressed about it all now. Is this BC c**p never going to end?

Hi Esther
Like the others I’m so glad not to be the only one. I was told that a lot of women find that they put on weight but that it’s not a side effect. Not sure what that means as so many of us are clearly finding this to be the very case. When is a side effect not side effect!!!
I was already overweight when diagnosed and know I’ve put weight on. I’m off to start a slimming club tonight with renewed willpower coz if we can beat cancer we can beat anything!!
Take care
Gail
