I started tamoxifen at the start of October and I’ve noticed a marked deterioration in my distance sight since ,I use glasses for reading and I had my eyes checked post op prior to starting the tamoxifen and my sight had not changed much in 2 years but I’ve definitely noticed a significant change and find I can’t see the tele clearly so I’m wondering if anyone else has had this problem ?
Hi SisterJayne
I have not had this problem but last time I had an eye test I mentioned that I was on Tamoxifen and he checked specifically that there was no change caused by this. I can’t remember off the top of my head what the issue is but opticians are trained to spot it.
Hope this helps.

Hi Sisterjayne
Yes, I have been on Tamoxifen since August 2012 and my eyesight has deteriorated quite a bit, its not age Im 52 ! I was also advised Chemo can affect your eyesight as well, so not sure if you had it but it could be a factor, I have just had to order new glasses an expense I could do withour before xmas, all the best to you

I have been taking Tamoxifen for two weeks. I usually wear glasses, but when I go out for a special event, I wear contacts. About five days into taking Tamoxifen, I went out wearing my contacts, and the street lights at night were blinding me. It was like someone had drawn a line in the sky from each street light to my eyes. I could barely see. When I finally got home, I made a note of this. It hasn’t happened again, but I am watchful about my vision and this medication’s side effects. I don’t take any other medication, and I do not drink alcohol.
Hi
I have been on Tamoxifen for two years, I had perfect eyesight with no problems. After 7 months on the drug I noticed that it was getting difficult to read small print. A year after starting it I went to the optician and now have to wear glasses for close work. Now two years in I find I can’t read any small print without my glasses. I am surprised at how quickly my eyesight has deteriorated and and think this can only be from taking the tamoxifen, but it’s a small price to pay to be be well.
