I’ve only been back on them.around 3 weeks after having my mastectomy but it’s just terrible… is this common and any tips to help please. Thanks Jan

Hi 1980jan,
I take it you are on tamoxifen? Yes the hot flushes are terrible to begin with, I was cracking up with them. Try a chillow pillow that is great to start with, also at the moment I’m wearing a lady care magnet at the moment, just had it about a month. Are you still having your period? Mines stopped for few years and have come back but just for about 3 days, then stopped again, since it’s stopped again the hot flushes have come back more now than before, they get you down at times, have you put on weight? I have, finding it hard to lose it. But I think I definatley recommend the chillow pillow and lady care magnet get the pillow from amazon and magnet from boots, it’s got to be just under your belly button so would recommend in getting bigger knickers!! The fun we have eh!! I try anything to try reduce the flushes though. Let me know what you decide, sorry just answering you now. Good luck.x

Hi Jan, hot flushes are a nightmare, I was getting 2-3 an hour, 24 hours a day resulting in having to change clothes several times a day. Some ladies report good results from acupuncture. May be worth a try. X

Hi Jan,

I take Tamoxifen and suffer from night sweats too, though I was beginning to have this problem before bc (I’m 48). I would recommend trying a course of acupuncture as this has definitely helped to reduce the frequency and intensity of mine. I also tried drinking sage tea before going to bed, this seemed to work at first but then the effect seemed to lessen over time. Lots of ladies have recommended the Ladycare Magnet too.

I hope you find something that works for you.

Keep us posted,
