just asking if anyone out there has had similar symptoms - started taking tamoxifen last Aug and my periods stopped immediately. Had months of hideous hot flushes, day and night, that left me exhausted, but a week ago they suddenly stopped. Yesterday, I started a “period” but with no usual pre-menstrual signs - very confused as to why these have started again as thought tx shut down hormones! Can anyone shed some light?
thanks, Georgie
Hi Georgie, I take tamoxifen and have heavier periods now than before. I guess what it does to different people varies…

Hi georgie08
As well as the information and support you are receiving from the other users you may find it useful to read the BCC booklet on tamoxifen, it discusses how tamoxifen works, the benefits and possible side effects. It can be order or read on line at the following link:-
I hope this is helpful.
Best wishes Sam, BCC Facilitator
Its zoladex that switches ovaries off and stops periods. Tamox just stop oestrogen sticking to cells, and therefore lots of women do still have periods on tamoxifen.
Hi georgie,
I’ve been on tamoxifen since Nov, my periods as regular as ever (every 28 days), no lighter / heavier than before, I’m 36.
Take care x
many thanks for all your comments- really helpful - was taking zoladex up to Feb so think my body must be regulating itself, hence the little present!!
a very grateful

I think mine are now disappearing as my number of weeks on tamoxifen increases. Constant thrills. Who can tell what will happen next?!
