Hi I’ve been taking Tamoxifen for 4.5 years. I’ve had some throat problems for 2 years. Constantly phlegmy and feel like I want to jet wash my throat. I’ve seen an ENT consultant who said it was acid reflux and a gastro consultant who said it definitely wasn’t acid reflux. I’ve suddenly thought could it be the tamoxifen. Has anyone else had throat problems taking it? Thanks.

Hi there. I started with throat issues about 4 months after taking tamoxifen. I had a feeling of food not going down properly. I think it had but just felt uncomfortable. I had an endoscopy and nothing major apart from a small hiatus hernia which apparently loads of people have. The sensation did eventually go away but not for over a year. It does come back occasionally but not been as bad. I am fairly sure it is the tamoxifen in my case but no one medical has agreed as yet!
Try dairy free as it adds to mucus and phlegm production.
