just been t pick up my tamox and its a different brand for the 1st time
ive been on wockhardt for nearly 8mths and this time they have given me aps
do i take it back? will i have a nasty reaction?
are they going to keep giving me different brands when they like? will i get sick chopping and changing?
thankyou
Hi lincs-lady,I have been on tamoxifen for 2+ years and had 3 different brands Generics first and now I seem to alternate between worckhardt and aps.I know some women have different side effects depending on which brand they have but I have not noticed any difference myself, hope its the same for you.
good luck Melxx
Also your chemist may be able to get the brand you want if you ask,I know some women on here have done that.
You’re on a similar timeline to me and when mine went from Wock to APS; I got the nice hot flashes back again. I only took 1 months worth and then asked for Woc and have since been fine.
Take it back! i was on wockhart for 10mths then got Generic last month. I felt depressed, tearful, sore breasts and on the whole a real mess. Itching all over too. Never ever again will i use another brand but i still cant believe it made such a difference.
Back on Wockhart now and no side effects again. Phew

can i take it back ?
i still have loads of flushes on w,so no sure they could get worse though i am sleeping a bit better at night now at last
i cry at anything since dx so not sure i can blame tamox, though i do seem to have a very short fuse with the 6yr old lately lol
is generic another brand? so there are 3 brands?
The box just said Generic…
There are a few brands i think.
I dont think you cant take them back either. I swapped mine in the shop and they were a bit concerned whether id taken them out of the pharmacy or not!!
Worth sticking to the same one if the side effects are bareable i guess. There shouldnt be a difference between brands but there are.

I have had Tamoxifen for 4 months now, 2x Wockhardt, 1xAPS, now back to Wockhardt. I didn’t notice any difference at all, so would say give it a go and if you notice worse side effects then ask for the brand you prefer next time … who knows you may find that you have fewer SE’s on the alternate brand.
I think that, as with every thing involved with our BC it is best not to make any assumptions, hope for the best, be aware of the worst, and deal with each ‘issue’ or problem as they occur, but don’t assume that they will occur.

Hi Everyone
That’s great advice Jacqui. I’ve been on wockhardt for 8 months with very few side effects. This month I was given a generic brand, thought nothing of it and gave it a go. However, I’ve suffered the most horrible hot flushes. When I was shopping last week I had my winter coat on, as the weather wasn’t brilliant but as the day wore on I was taking my coat on off on off and it was driving me crackers. As I am normally a very cold person I can’t bear the thought of not wearing a coat out in winter but it’s such a nuisance having to hold it, especially when carrying heavy bags. I will definitely be asking for my old brand back next month. Good luck.

thankyou
so we are agreed,i try the aps and see?
