Tamoxifen Induced Tendinopathy?

Hi there. I am so glad to find this resource and hope I may find some answers. On tamoxifen for 18 months, I am extremely fatigued and have no energy to the point where I need to stop after a flight of stairs. I have gained weight and can’t take it off; but what I am really upset by is that any exercise is hampered by achilles Tendonosis…I gave always been a walker…all of the sudden I can’t barely got down my stairs in the morning. Anyone experience this???thank you for reading. Eileen

I get numbness, pain in my joints too

I have been on tamoxifen almost 2 years. In that time frame I have had to have a Cortizone shot in my thumb/ wrist area one in my elbow both due to tendinitis, and currently I am nursing tendinitis in my extensior tendon on my right foot. My oncologist has told me repeatedly this is not due to tamoxifen. However I have not ever experienced tendinitis three times in one year. I am going to have him read all of these threads and complaints about it in the back that one oncologist said it is due to tamoxifen.  I have decided to quit taking it. Going from working out 3 to 4 times a week to not even being able to walk 10 feet without excruciating pain is not quality-of-life. I am 63.

I have takin tamoxifen for ore breast cancer for about two years . I also have developed tendinitis in both shoulders . My doctor told me the same it’s not caused from the med however I never had any problems before

Did the pain go away after coming off the med

Dear RevCat,

Thanks for writing about this!  I was on AI’s for 4 months, but could not tolerate them, mostly due to cognitive loss- arrention, wordfinding, and concentration.  I’ve been on Tamoxifen now for about 2 months.  I had some aching pain before, but now have severe right elbow and forearm pain, consistent with lateral epicondylitis or tennis elbow.  I’m wearing a splint, but am frequently awakened at night by searing pain in right elbow.  I rubbed it most of the night last night.  It is painful even to type this note.  I’m sure it’s the Tamoxifen.  I’m not doing anything that should set this off!  It may not be listed, but the estrogen must be blocked to tendons!  It really is killing me!  This website had most helpful info.  I don’t think it’s a coincidence! I look pretty cute in my wrist and forearm splints too!
