Tamoxifen Side effects

Hi all you lovely ladies
I was dx in May 2011 had mx with immediate recon in July 2012 followed by 6 chemo’s and rads. For the last couple of months have been getting a dull ache in my head above my right eye. Onc suggested stopping tamoxifen for one month to see if pain stops but I am extremely frightened to do this. Its become such a ritual now that I’m scared that if I stop taking it for a month the cancer will come back somewhere else!!
Has anyone else had to stop the tamoxifen for any reason???

I started taking Tamoxifen in August last year whilst still having Herceptin. Not sure whether it was one, both or the combination but I had horrendous side effects. My onc told me to stop taking the Tamoxifen whilst having Herceptin. So I didn’t take it from August last year until March this year and only now take half a dose.
If your onc didn’t think it would be ok he would be suggesting you stop for a month.
I would stop if I were you, just to see if your eye improves.

If Onc is suggesting you stop, I would be MORE worried about what would happen if you didn’t stop! Oncs are very keen for us all (ER+ve) to have Tamoxifen, as they know how effective it is, BUT they are also very aware of possible very serious side effects. A regular pain in your head should never be ignored, so you do need to establish if it IS the Tamoxifen. It may not be. The onc has your overall health in mind. Tamoxifen can, in VERY RARE cases, cause blood clots which could lead to stroke or heart attack, so please do follow Oncs advice!!

Hopefully it will be somehting else and you can start taking it again. Have you had your eyes tested recently?
