Do you hvae any further details about the trial? I’m on tamoxifen since February but not on a trial.
hi i was told. the trial lasts for five years and every three weeks i have to go to hosp for injections. thats a big commitment for five years. the inj would also switch my ovaries off to stop producing and if they didnt i would have keyhole surgery to remove them. i am 50 still having periods chemo didnt effect them. i dont think i can commit to this as hate hosp.

I did the tact 2 trial for my chemo and when I had finished I was asked if I wanted to go onto react trial-this is a trial using tamoxifin and celecoxib( non steroid anti inflammatory) versus placebo, this was 2 years taking the celecoxib ,carrying on with tamoxifin for a total of 5 years…The study is organised by the international collaborative cancer group imperial college London the study is funded by Pfizer Inc.Not sure if this is the same study but there was no mention of 3 weekly hosp visits or injections, just the oral medication.
I asked if there was any trials I could take part in but neither of my consultants knew of any. You might think I’m daft but as a family we have taken part in trials before for a different comdition. I agree that the commitment seems quite onerous and time consuming. I started tamx today, yes on the hotest day of the year!
Hi Kattona I have been asked the same as you regarding tamoxifin and celecoxib. I star Rads on the 19th and see Onc the day after to get this sorted out. Thought they might wait till Ive finished my rads, so not looking forward to three treatments all going on at same time. Have you actually started on your treatment??? At least we shall be able to follow each other to see how it’s going. I got the same message as you oral medication.I hope the tiredness does not excaserbate? sp . I am so exhausted at the moment , think i would have to take to my bed if it got any worse. Keep in touch love Bobbie Anyone else find spell checker does not work on this site???
hi Bobby,
I havn’t started the trial-sorry if I misled you but I was given the option and my concern was that if I was on the placebo which I wouldn’t know-would I have been able to have anti inflams for my joint aches which I seem to have aquired following chemo-also I had done a bit of research and as my oncologist had also mentioned arimidex I thought being post meno that this seemed to be a better option for me from all the info I had found out…
I’ve been on the arimidex since Jan but I’m suffering with knee joints and anythink else that seems to want to ache randomly.I finished my rads begining of March-sailed through no problems, then 2 weeks later went off to florida on hols.Still feel pretty exhausted and now swimming and trying to take gently exercise but still hit the brick wall from time to time.keep me posted about the trial. Ruth.
