I have been taking Tamoxifen since around September 2010 and as my periods have not really stopped I asked what I could do as worried that my cancer was 8/8 receptive. They suggested Zoladex injections of which I have been having for the last 2 months now.
My question to those taking both, do you find it completely exhausts you? I get tired so easily, mood swings are horrible and I ache all over! Finding it a little tough dealing with this as I am usually very active but just want to sleep all the time.
I saw my GP yesterday about something else and she asked how I was (she was the doctor that referred me with my lump thankfully!). I told her I was on Zoladex now too and she seemed a little shocked and said no wonder I was feeling rough.
I am thinking of asking to have ovaries removed (I am 31 and have 3 children) but the professionals do not seem keen on doing this at my age.
Hi Paula,
Ive been on Tamoxifen for a month and a half, so not yet fully in my system. YES I am tired and achey for most of the time. Recently had the ‘period feelings’ but no period as yet since first on it, just waiting!
I think having 3 children will also make you tired and have the mood swings. What do you do for ‘Paula Time’? This is a must to keep going and plod on
Wendy x
Yep I know what you mean about ‘me time’. I actually couldn’t get up and even go for a massage or anything else indulgent, I’m too knackered! I feel like my body is getting ready to hibernate!
Achy bones, sore hip joint, fuzzy head and just generally wiped out! Off for a bath and an early night! x
Hi - I’ve been on Aromasin since Novemeber 2010 and then they added Zoladex injections to comletely blitz any oestrogen production. I think the depletion of oestrogen and certainly the suddeness of it rather than a gradaul, natural reduction has a lot to do with fatigue symptoms. Your body is having to adjust to a hormone change that could take years normally. I was initially more affected by my monthly jab - particularly 2-4 days afterwards but it does seem to have smoothed out since then. Maybe give it a while and see if things settle?
