I took my first Tamoxifen tablet last night! A strange feeling knowing this is it for the next 5 years!! Anyone else out there just started maybe we could compare notes.

I recall that day I expected something (no idea what) to happen. But I have finished my first packet and start the second tonight. I made a mental note, 4 years and 11 months to go! Nothing horrible yet, though maybe one month isn’t long enough as I have read on here that other people have suffered quite a lot. Keeping fingers and toes crossed.xx
Thank You sjj99. Everything I’ve read suggest something horrid is lurking so good to know that if there is it may not be imminent. I’m taking mine at bedtime with a cup of green tea (although I have no idea is that will help) a dose of evening primrose in the morning (again a possible placebo) and lots fingers crossed for a easy ride on Tamox Highway!!

I’ve just finished my 5years. I didn’t have any side effects until I came on this forum in December 2010. Then I discovered that I wasn’t loosing my marbles,or becoming a crippled old lady and sweating pints wasn’t just my age.
I’ve been off it a month. Sweating at night still a bit of an issue but I am 54. Relatively sane and pain in joints diminishing rapidly.
I never use to read those leaflets that came with prescription medication and I’m still not sure it’s a good idea.

hi mairimac, ive been takin tam 2 months. 1st time ever for last 5 yrs(since last babe)no period!!! the odd very hot nite sweat(nasty) gosh, im a week late! lol. so not pregnant but different 4 me. my last period was sooooo heavy too so glad! ps im 41 pre meno love alexxxxxxxx
hiya, I started tamoxifin on thursday 2nd June so just after you! I have had 7 chemos, WLE and axillary clearance and start rads in 3 weeks. we can keep in touch if you like and compare side effects. Ness x

10 days and feeling OK apart from hot legs!! Yep from my knees to my ankles feel really hot and my legs are very restless when I go to bed but I can live with this. Hopefully this is as bad as it gets.

I started Tamoxifen in the middle of February and apart from the hot sweats at night - which seem to be getting less than they were - I can’t really say I’ve noticed anything else.
I started Cod Liver Oil capsules at the same time as I’d been told I might get achy bones but so far all has been ok.

I’ve been on Tamoxifen since the end of Feb. Side effects like dizziness were immediate. However, I think that was also attributed to the fact that i’d just been told I had cancer and was splitting with my OH. They soon passed though. I have hot flushes but mainly in bed and sticking a leg or arm out from the duvet helps. I’m pre menopausal and have regular periods (it hasn’t effected them) I did get a bit of spotting in between periods but that has subsided too.
Hi, I am 50 years of age and haven’t yet been through the menopause, just started my 2nd month on Tamoxifen and other than some dizziness if I jump up too quick, have to say I have not noticed any other side effects.

Hi all, I am on day 10 and have noticed quite a few effects already, night sweats a definite, mood swings and sickness, I was actually sick yesterday, but usually I feel like I have a stone in my stomach. I have stage 2 BC, 3cm, lumpectomy and 3 nodes removed, am starting radiotherapy Thurs 16th June. Keep well, or at least positive 
hi all, have 16mm invasive removed along with sentinel on 11/04/11. am on 7/20 rads and 1 month on tamoxifen. i feel great, was feeling a bit sick the first week on tamoxifen but feel good now. nipple is starting to shrivel a bit but no pain or burning yet!!!.
i have the odd panic moment but am very positive and just cant wait to get back to work. hopefully on the 7/7.
Hi All, been taking tamoxifen for a few months now. Have nightsweats which I can live with but otherwise no SEs. As CM said on another thread, different brands react differently for different people apparently because of what the active ingredient is mixed with. I am on Wockhardt and fine but I know they don’t agree with some others on here. Might be worth switching to another brand? I know there is a generic and at least one other brands out there. If same/similar SEs can switch back but it might just be better? x

well day 12 and feeling ok, I agree with the restless legs, mine feel very strange during the night and ankles slighly swollen. Have woken up hot a couple of times but so far so good. Woke at 4am this morning and could not get back to sleep. Hows you doing. Ness xxx
Good to read Chinooks comments after completing 5yrs of Tamox and already joint pain now diminishing! Looking forward to that one!
Only another 3 years to go for me. Joint pain has been my only side effect x
