Had my 5th chemo Tax and Herceptin last Thursday but was given different steroid regime , took 16mgs day before and 16 mgs day after where as last time I also had a further 2 days worth reducing. Anybody got any other regimes or thoughts on what works best?? Feeling really rubbish as seems like a massive crash down this time or maybe that’s just Tax

I remember having increased dosage of dex with tax compared to fec. I think it’s because of the potential allergic reaction to tax whereas with fec it is for anti sickness. I crashed on day 4 of tax and found days 4 to 7 the worse.

I had my first Tax on Wednesday and crashed last night. Feel rewally awful today and I’m sure it is the Tax and not the dexamethasone.
I had to take 16mg dexa on tuesday, and again wed and thursday, I was also given 8mg IV before chemo.
It is to help with a) nausea, b) allergy reaction and c) the swelling you can get- hands, feet and abdo.
Some units reduce dexa, my onc doesn’t when asked.
I think we have to stick with it, but it is NO FUN !! Infact it sucks.
