Hi guys
Your experience is required. I have finished my Chemo (Tues past) and since I’ve been on Tax my hair’s been growing back all fluffy and baby like, but with good coverage.
I shaved it off again last week, now it’s back about half a centimeter already and just as fluffy as before?
Should I keep shaving or is this fluffiness a permanent thing for now?
Thanks
Love Ang xx
Thanks Bobbie
It’s exciting to be done, but flips sake I am wrecked by the whole thing.
Good luck with your next 3, they will be done soon.

My hair started growing back while I was on Tax, it did the same as yours and I looked like Orville (but grey) for a while. This week I had it trimmed and that seemed to calm it down a bit (I must mention that I finished chemo in December) It’s about an inch long now and gradually thickening up, can’t wait to get the hair dye out though.
Good Luck and congrats on finishing your chemo, feel’s lovely doesn’t it?

Hi there
my hair growth is the focus of my life right now. Its like watching a kettle boil and it just cant come fast enough. I finished chemo the end of Feb and have about a cm or 2 but still not enough for me to feel ok going out au naturel. Mine is also more grey than I expected, anyone know when we can colour it ?

Yes it’s like watching paint dry. My last tax was on 20th Feb but I have fluff which is mostly still there from chemo days and it’s not growing quick enough. Also it’s very thin on top so I’m now very worried I’ll have the male hair, like a monk’s.
oh - hum

I remember standing in front of the mirror many times every day trying to catch sight of those elusive little strands. The first growth is so fine it seemed to me more like rabbit fur than real hair. I shaved the first growth off completely and then left what grew next to do its own thing. It soon came back stronger - though no darker
It is like watching a kettle boil though-but happily once it gets going theres no stopping it.
I did read that someone ( was it Pineapple?) used Brewers yeast to encourage stronger growth and it worked a treat.
Good luck to you all on your first haircut

Just wanted to join in - I lost all my hair while undergoing Fec in Nov - Jan - then had break for Rads during Feb/March - during which time my hair grew back. It’s grey, and about 1/2 inch all over now, but…started tax on 2nd April and it’s just starting to fall out again-- I was so hoping it wouldn’t, I thought the tax might just slow the growth a bit - my daughter is getting married in Juy and I so wanted to have some hair for the wedding! Due to finish tax on 4th June- can’t see me having much by July 26th
Maybe I should try the brewers yeast?
Take care all

I am so jealous of you all. I am still in the first cycle of AC chemo, lost my hair. Hate the color. Ok, that’s reality.
From what I have read, you should wait 6 months from date you stopped chemo. Long time.
I was wondering if anyone knew of a botanical dye we can use. It is WAY in the future for me, but that would help you.

Talking of botanical dye - would that include henna? I’ve used red henna on dark brown hair for over 30 years - resulting in a chestnutty colour & great condition. It would be nice to know I could go back to that ASAP.
Having said that, it’s a long way off me for me, too - I shaved my head this morning preparatory to first chemo & cold cap tomorrow, so it’s a bit soon to be thinking about re-growth. My ears are chilly.
hello all,
I finished my FEC Tax in September last year. I now have very thick, dyed hair but it is still pretty short! I am still shocked by the slow growth of it, but at least it saves in hairdressers bills! I am on Herceptin and wasnt sure that it was Herceptin slowing it down but my nurses say its the Tax which affects hair and nails for a long time - nails are also crap so thats right!
As for dying, I dyed mine 8 weeks after finishing chemo with Naturetint which I bought from Holland and Barretts, it has none of the dodgy chemicals in it, it smelt beautiful and did a really good job of covering the greys. When I look at the photos now though it makes me laugh, its like I was dying a very trimmed beard rather than hair, it is so short and thin! I have since dyed my hair at least 4 times with just normal dyes and have had no problems, however, everyone should be careful I think.

Hi all
thanks for the info Polly , I will have a look for naturetinet in preparation . I think I will be a long way off before losing the wig. I have tested it out on my 7 year old and she thinks I look like her dad without my wig on (great) although she did say it was ok to remove it if I felt hot !
Just feel very masculine wthout it so will wait until its about a inch at least where I could pass it for a hairstyle rather than being ill .
I didnt realise Tax would affect things for a long time , thats quite depressing really .
Emily , Margaret and Emelle , best of luck with your chemos . I cant believe I am here at the other side now, always moaning about something

Cally,
dont be too depressed… I was just telling you my experience so youwouldnt be as disappointed as I was, but Ive got there in the end, Ive got plenty of thick hair now but its just short! A lot of the women having Herceptin with me have far longer hair though, perhaps Im just one of the unlucky ones!

HI Polly
no problem , I was very patient with chemo as I accepted what I had to go through . I just want to be me again not this bizarre person looking at me in the mirror .

Hi All,
I too am sporting a fluffy, fuzzy, grey look with regards to my hair. I bumped into my hairdresser the other day and she said she had been to a tradeshow recently where she’s spotted a colour product which was supposed to be completely natural but to give good coverage on grey hair by Daniel Field.
I shall gladly be her guinea pig as soon as my hair is long enough to dye!
Love,

I just have to post that today i HAD MY LAST CHEMO!!! And i am ecstatic that after a few more weeks of aches, foul tasting mouth and watery eyes i can forget the chemo nightmare (for good i hope). I had 3 FEC and vomited for days, didn’t eat for over a week each time. Then Taxotere which didn’t make me nauseous, just achy etc.
I have an inch of very sparse, very fine, fluffy baby blonde hair, no lashes or eyebrows. I know what you mean about watching for any miraculous growth, but for now i am determined just to be happy that this horrible part of my life is over. (Well, 4 weeks of rads to come but that sounds do-able).
If i had the energy i would scream it through the streets…NO MORE CHEMO…!!!
love from Liane
Well done Liane for getting through it .
now what we all need is the human version of miracle gro - the stuff you put on plants for our hair ! I have way too much grey for my liking.
