I have had 4 x fec and 4 x taxotere with zometa. I have just recently finished the taxotere but since I have been on it my rib where my hot spot is has been aching all the time it didnt give me this trouble when I was on the FEC.
I have recently had a CAT scan and the ONC said that the bone mets, I have two, rib and pelvis show signs of responding and healing, but cant tell properly until I have had a Bone/PET scan which I will have in a couple of weeks.
Has anybody else experienced this kind of pain as am bit worried as I was almost pain free (rib wise) before the treatment, only hurt when I sneezed !!!

Hello Mackers, good luck with your bone scan, I hope it shows Tax worked well for you. I haven’t had Tax yet but I do have bone mets and my Onc has often told me healing bone mets can cause pain.

The funny things is (not that any of it is funny!!!). My hole in my pelvis shows signs of healing over, but the rib which was an actual tumour, is the one that is hurting, as I said it never hurt when I was on the FEC or before that much.
As I have had the taxotere I do get pains all over, as with everyone it does have quite powerful side effects, but the rib pain is different it is continual.
Anyway I will stop whinging about it, lets hope it is healing over and I’ll wait for more tests on my bones,I know there are lots of ladies out there that have very bad pain with bone mets and I think about them alot and hope that the Docs/Onc can help them, its just I was curious about the rib siutation. Tnx again

I have bone mets and I had pain whilst having Tax. It was a side effect of the Tax and not the mets getting worse. I was prescribed painkillers. The pain went away after I had finished Chemo. Not had any probs since.
It sounds like the Tax is working for you. So thats good news.
I have also been told that bone mets can hurt when healing, and my bone mets did improve with Tax. Are you going to have some rads to your bone mets too?
Could be the Zometa! I had pain with my hip met, when on Zometa, I think it was about the 3rd Z treatment (was having them 4-weekly) which could link in with your change from FEC to Taxotere. Anyway the pain eventually disappeared within a couple of days, and Zometa stabilised my several bone mets.
Hi
I have bone mets too, and my rib one has been sore since having tax, I am on weekly infusion. I hear that it IS an se, and your scans sound promising.
