Taxotere and Cold Cap - advice please

Ok I had my first tax 3 weeks ago - I used the cold cap. Next session tomorrow. Is there anyone out there for whom cold cap has worked?

YESSSSSS!

I had taxotere back in 1999 and was told taxotere meant total hair loss - rapidly. They did not offer the cold cap for it at the Marsden. Being me :slight_smile: I said if there was no medical reason why I couldn’t have the cold cap then could I please try. I did not lose the hair on my head - everywhere else yes, my head - no. Like me you have short hair which I think helps so good luck. I have to confess the cold cap back then was quite a different beast - very primitive. They used icepacks which were moulded round a polystyrene head and kept in a freezer. It was then scrunched around your head to more or less fit, dripped absolutely everywhere as it ‘defrosted’ so you had to be swatched in towels to keep you dry and blankets to keep you warm. My hasn’t medicine progressed!

Hi Geraldine,

I finished my 6 cycles of Taxotere in January and I used the cold cap throughout. It worked brilliantly. My hair just thinned a little on top, but other than that you really wouldn’t have noticed much difference. My hair has just started growing again now and it is coming through curly and looks very nice. Just keep persevering!

I used the cold cap with 3 xFEC and 3 x Tax. Hair thinned but never lost enough to really notice.
