Is a low temperature as bad as a high temperature? On the info pack I got it said call for advice if it drops below 36… Mine does, but will come up again and then drop again… It’s not been higher than 36.5 since my second dose of Chemo on Wed… The lowest has been 35.2… Do I need to do anything, is it normal to keep yoyoing like this… Thanks
Hi,
My normal temperature is pretty low too, similar to yours usually 36.5 ish haven’t noticed it go a lot lower than that. If you have any queries like this best to discuss with your BCN or the team that you are being treated by. I have found the teams are quite happy to explain everything and what you should be watching out for in your individual circumstances.
On my last treatment cycle my temperature was going up and down like a yoyo. Always at the weekend when our chemo ward staff were not available so I gave the A&E department a call and they advised me to go in as my temp had gone up to nearly 38c. (sorry that doesn’t really help with a low temp)
All the best

Hi, don’t know whether I am overreacting or not. Had 2nd session of docetaxol, cannot get temp above 36.0. Have been getting diarrhea and got earache with zero taste. Should I be worried as don’t usually have low temp. Also on filgrastim injections. Thanks.
Miss Mo , I can’t advise but would suggest you ring the helpline number you have been given and get advice if you are in any doubt about your symptoms .
Thanks Jill. I will phone. Seems daft but don’t want to put anyone out of their way and kinda feel a nuisance phoning them but will do.
I was told if lower than 35.5 or higher than 37.5 to call your Chemo team. Out of hours call the emergency number they give you. I was 38 six days after first chemo and paramedics came round and took ECG which was fine but they wanted me to get checked out at hosp too. Paracetomol helped and was fine after being checked out.
