temporary bra until reconstruction
temporary bra until reconstruction girls, I have had my mastectomy last week and have got to have rads and then reconstruction after.
can anyone recommend type of bras to go for which will suit me temporarily until boob job ? I am only small - 32a and know that i mustnt have underwire - i have also had lymph removal 2 x weeks ago. Shall I just go for a standard non wire bra and see how that goes or perhaps a teenage bra ? Seeing breast nurse tomorrow and have got to take my normal bra for her to check the cup size.

For Vezza/Karen Hi Karen,
I have been wearing a “Mona” bra by Amoena. It was recommended to me by the occupational therapist at the hospital. She gave me one of their brochures but they have a website which I think is literally www.amoena.co.uk. It’s very soft and comes in several colours. It’s about £22 so not cheap but they usually offer free postage and/or 10% off for new customers.
Wishing you all the very best with the rest of your treatment,
Take care,

post op bras Hi Karen
After my mastactomy 2 years ago I bought cheap cotton non wired sports bras from Matalan and Primark. They were about £5 then. They have quite a full cup so will hold the soft ‘comfy’ prosthesis the breast care nurse should give you. I still used them after I got my proper prosthesis - if you’re having rads you may be more comfortable with the comfy. I now wear a stick on prosthesis from Amoena and I use their bras too. Hope this helps.
What type of recon will you go for? I’m seeing a plastic surgeon at the mo to discuss a diep flap but he’s told me it won’t be as big as the other one - not enough belly! and I don’t want an implant. But I feel anything will be better than nothing.
Good luck with the rads - I was lucky not to need them.
Take care

hi karen,
my mum had mastectomy last year and i had the job or trying to find her a comfortable bra, as she didnt want to go out.
The best one she liked and still wears now was from M&S - they do a range for “post op” she liked them alot as very comfortable and some even had some nice design on them (my mum said made her feel a bit better rather than big, plain boring ones, bit more womenly, and felt she needed that then)
They now also do in larger stores mastectomy bras, with padding.
Hope this may help, good luck and wish you well
